Sometimes
Image: Blizzard EntertainmentThey say charm can get you anywhere in life, and in Overwatch's case, that apparently means saving you from bullets, too. Blizzard released its annual batch of Loverwatch skins last week, a set of Valentine's Day-themed outfits for a handful of characters, and Soldier: 76's "Charming 76" skin is making him almost impossible to kill. Sometimes.
A smattering of posts showing Soldier: 76 in the Prince Charming skin started appearing over the weekend, or more accurately, they showed part of him. You could see his head and cape — and that was it. Up close, all was as it should be, but as soon as Soldier moved roughly 20 meters away from a player, the rest of him vanished. That's a problem if you're on the opposing team and try landing a shot anywhere other than his head. The game still registers body shots, if, y'know, you can actually hit him.
The reports only showed the issue happening in training and standard Overwatch modes, and when Polygon looked into the matter, Soldier: 76 remained entirely visible in third-person Stadium matches.
Image: Blizzard Entertainment via POlygonSkins and models have had a bit of a rough go since Overwatch season 1 launched. A handful of victory poses, including "snatched" Hanzo, make certain heroes look as if they'd spent a lifetime in a Victorian corset, and Ana's new Lunar New Year skin sports a completely different color scheme when you acquire it compared to how it looks in the costume preview.
The cause of the Soldier: 76 glitch and whether it's confined to standard modes is unclear. However, a Blizzard representative told Polygon via email the team is aware of the issue and said "it will be addressed in the upcoming 2.21.0.2 patch next Tuesday [Feb. 24]." Until then, maybe stick to beam-wielding characters like Zarya, Mei, and Moira if you find yourself up against the semi-invisible charmer. Who needs targeted direct hits when you can just hit everything?
