One Piece season 3 is adding even more familiar faces.

Netflix's live-action adaptation has cast key figures in the Battle of Alabasta as the series' 2027 return window continues to approach. One Piece season 3, subtitled The Battle of Alabasta, sees Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates finally make it to the desert kingdom, intent on defeating Baroque Works and reuniting Vivi with her father. However, many challenges are in store, including the crime syndicate's leader, Crocodile, whose plans to take control of the Kingdom will be at the forefront of the upcoming episodes. Season 3 is filmed and will be released next year.

Now, at the One Piece Day stage show in Tokyo, Japan, Netflix confirmed One Piece season 3 has cast a number of important allies in Alabasta, who will have key roles to play in the story moving forward. This includes: Emilio Sakraya as Koza, leader of a rebellion against Alabasta royalty; Omid Abtahi as Toto, an old man with a past connection to Vivi; Jamie Ward as Pell, the strongest warrior in Alabasta; and Nabeel Khan as Chaka, the new captain of Alabasta's royal guard. All four characters have significant roles in the Alabasta Arc, and, subsequently, its live-action adaptation.

The cast of One Piece was previously confirmed to be expanding in season 3 with the upcoming arrival of even more vital characters from the manga. This includes Crocodile and Nico Robin, the core members of Baroque Works, getting bumped up to series regulars in season 3, alongside Cobra, the king of Alabasta and Vivi's father. Additional upcoming cast members include Xolo Maridueña as Portgas D. Ace, Cole Escola as Bon Clay, Awdo Awdoc as Mr. 1, and Daisy Head as Miss Doublefinger.

One Piece season 2 ended by laying the groundwork for what to expect from season 3, having set up Baroque Works as a core threat while also delivering a promise of even bigger action ahead. This included a strong introduction to Tony Tony Chopper, the Straw Hats' doctor and a reindeer with transformation powers after eating a Devil Fruit. It also set the stage for the larger story ahead, introducing characters like Dragon and hinting at a bigger involvement from the World Government in the process.

↻ SET SAIL AGAIN

Season 3 will consist of eight episodes, just like previous installments. However, due to the length of the Alabasta Arc amongst the wider Alabasta Saga, it'll be the first season of the show to focus on the group traveling across one island. Given how lengthy the conflict is going to be, though, the season will more than justify its length as it introduces a wide variety of new ideas to the series. The battle with Baorque Works is but the start of the crew's journey across the Grand Line, setting the stage for much more in the process.

With four important cast members now confirmed, it remains to be seen how One Piece season 3 will utilize them, and how much they'll align with their manga and anime counterparts. Since the story has remained faithful to author Eiichiro Oda's vision thus far, it appears the show will retain the same approach going forward. Plenty of important manga moments are on the horizon, as the journey grows ever more perilous.
