After quite a bit of back and forth earlier this week, Shonen Jump has finally confirmed that One Piece's manga is indeed going on hiatus, and the official statement has sparked widespread concern for Oda's health. Fans of One Piece were recently caught off guard when Manga Plus unexpectedly changed the release date for the upcoming chapter, but fortunately, Shonen Jump's editorial team has finally come out and cleared the confusion, confirming the two-week break.
A post on X by pewpiece has translated an official statement by Shonen Jump's Editorial Department which confirms One Piece will be going on a sudden two-week break until December 1, 2024, resuming in the next issue of Shonen Jump. The message states that the hiatus is due to Eiichiro Oda's "poor physical health."
News of Oda's poor health has caused quite a bit of concern among fans, given how sudden and unexpected the break was, so much so that the fact that Shonen Jump was unable to make the correction in time for the upcoming issue's table of contents.
