One Piece: All of Imu's Swords Revealed So Far

Nearly eight years after his debut as a mere silhouette, One Piece's ultimate villain, Imu, has finally taken the stage on Elbaph. Considering the series is deep into its Final Saga at this point, it was about time for One Piece to reveal Imu, though no one could have expected just how much the Elbaph Arc would shed light on this mysterious villain. Beyond just his gender, true appearance, and confirmation of his identity as one of the original twenty rulers, One Piece's Elbaph Arc has also revealed quite a bit about Imu's powers, which include the power of the Devil's Fruit and its various transformations, and a host of mysterious abilities such as Omen and Domi Reversi.

That said, at the same time, Imu has surprisingly been revealed as quite the skilled combatant, wielding multiple weapons in addition to hand-to-hand combat. Interestingly, many of these weapons have since been confirmed to be the same nineteen weapons planted in the ground before the Empty Throne at Mariejois. These weapons once belonged to the rulers who founded the World Government, with the only one missing being Alabasta. Through his mysterious ability known as Omen, Imu has access to all nineteen of these weapons in battle. Of these, ten have been revealed so far, and a vast majority of them happen to be swords, giving One Piece yet another powerful swordsman in Imu.

11 Unnamed Polearm

Besides the weapons of the nineteen founding rulers, Imu also possesses a polearm. This is the weapon Imu is seen wielding when he first descends on Elbaph, though its name has yet to be revealed. This peculiar spear sports a zigzag blade with a dark cloud at the other end and can seemingly function as a conduit for Omen, whether that's shooting little sentient Omen orbs or using Omen to transform into a flail, morning star, or mace.

It is possible that this spear is the weapon belonging to the Nerona Family, which is why Imu always has access to it, though there has been only one spear pictured in front of the Empty Throne in the past, which is likely Longinus. That said, many of these weapons do noticeably take on a different appearance when wielded by Imu.

10 Blade of Judgement: Nemesis

One of the first named weapons Imu summons is Nemesis, the Blade of Judgement, a greatsword that he uses to pierce Loki's chest in Chapter #1181. The sword is evidently inspired by the Greek goddess Nemesis, who represents divine retribution and the judgement of those who display arrogance before the gods, making it a very befitting name for a sword wielded by Imu.

9 Blade of Wrath: Gram

Chapter #1183 of One Piece sees Imu pull out yet another new weapon in battle, this time in the form of a flaming polearm dubbed the Blade of Wrath: Gram. This weapon is later revealed to belong to the Shepherd Family, as St. Sommers is also later granted the ability to use it through Omen. That said, Gram takes on a different appearance when wielded by St. Sommers, resembling a sabre with a thorny hilt, rather than a spear.

Gram is seemingly inspired by a legendary sword of the same name from Norse mythology, also known as Balmung, which was pulled out of a tree by the hero Sigurd and used to slay a dragon named Fafnir. And, very fittingly, in One Piece, Imu uses this weapon against Loki whilst the latter is in his Niddhoggr form.

8 Blade of Hatred: Stigma

The Blade of Hatred: Stigma is first used by Imu in Chapter #1187 and takes the form of a black fiery sword that stabs Loki through the chest. When using Stigma, Imu first forms a circle with his thumb and index finger and summons flaming orbs of Omen that appear to mark Loki's chest before he is pierced by the blade in that very spot.

7 Blade of Nothingness: Vohu

One of the most deadly weapons seen in Imu's arsenal so far is Vohu, the Blade of Nothingness. The sword is first summoned by Imu in Chapter #1188 and subsequently used to stab Luffy in the chest before pinning him to Jewel Tree Adam. Vohu's blade sports a distinctive swirly pattern as well as black flames emanating from it, and according to Imu, the sword absorbs the life force or vitality of those pierced by it.

The sword's name can also translate to void or emptiness, which could possibly be a reference to the Second World passage of the Harley, which states, "Within the void there was breath."

6 Blade of Chaos: Tohu

During his battle against Zoro in Chapter #1189, St. Sommers confirms that it is Omen that grants Imu the ability to use the weapons of the nineteen original rulers. At the same time, St. Sommers also names several of Imu's weapons, including the Blade of Chaos: Tohu, which has yet to be seen in action. In Japanese, this weapon is called "kontonken" with "konton" referring to the primordial chaos before the creation of the world that goes hand in hand with the primordial void. As such, it is possible that Tohu and Vohu, the Blade of Nothingness, could be a pair, and Tohu could be just as deadly as Vohu.

5 Muramasa

Along with Vohu, another weapon mentioned by St. Sommers in Chapter #1189 that has yet to be revealed is Muramasa. Judging by its name, Muramasa is likely one of the katana around the Empty Throne. Its name is taken from a famous Japanese swordsmith of the same name, infamous for creating cursed blades, which directly inspired the Kitetsu swords in One Piece. Given that St. Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro wields the Shodai Kitetsu, it is possible that the Muramasa is the weapon of the Nusjuro Family.

4 Blade of the Sea God: Fragarach

Shortly after stabbing Luffy with Vohu, Imu summons another sword in Chapter #1189 called Fragarach, the Blade of the Sea God, a sword coated in black flames. That said, beyond its name, perhaps the most interesting thing about Fragarach is its inspiration. The sword is directly inspired by a blade of the same name from Irish mythology, which is said to sap the strength of its foes, cannot be blocked by armor, and belonged to Manann, the sea god.

Most interestingly, Manann is said to be the king of the Otherworld as well as the surviving Tuath Dé, a supernatural race in Irish mythology likened to gods and fallen angels. They were also said to be neither good nor evil and also skilled in magic, and perhaps this may have served as the inspiration for Imu in One Piece.

3 Axe of Xingtian

Face to face with the Mountain Eater himself, Imu summons an axe of his own against Gaban in Chapter #1189 of One Piece. Called the Axe of Xingtian, this weapon is one of the two axes pictured in front of the Empty Throne and is inspired by the headless Chinese deity of the same name, who also wields an axe.

2 Longinus

Longinus is the weapon used by St. Killingham in Chapter #1189, and according to him, it is the weapon of the Rimoshifu Family. Since Imu has yet to be seen wielding it, its epithet is still unknown. In St. Killingham's possession, Longinus takes the form of an ornate spear, and its name implies it is inspired by the spear that pierced Jesus Christ's side while crucified.
