Rayman Legends Retold is not Ubisoft’s biggest game release of fall 2026, it’s the company’s only new game release outside of Just Dance: Decades of Hits. And it just got a pretty big last-minute delay despite the Assassin’s Creed publisher claiming it was already finished. Originally set to arrive on October 1, the Rayman remake has now been pushed back to December 3.
“While the game has officially gone gold, we have decided to take extra time to make sure every detail gets the care it deserves,” the development team wrote in a statement on X. “In the meantime, we can’t wait for you to see what we’ve been working on, starting with a Game Overview trailer on September 22. That same day, a selection of creators and press will share fresh hands-on impressions.”

Rayman Legends Retold is a remake of the 2013 platformer Rayman Legends that retains much of the design and gameplay of the original while combining it with 3D visuals rebuilt in Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine. Kotaku had a great time with the limited hands-on demo earlier in the year, so it’s surprising to hear that the game needs more time to address lingering issues all of a sudden.
The last-minute delay is especially notable given Ubisoft, one of the biggest game publishers in the world, has no other major new games coming out this fall. Its only other releases are Just Dance: Decades of Hits, the 18th entry in the annualized rhythm series, and a Switch 2 port of the The Crew Motorfest, which originally came out in 2023.
Delays have become a major, ongoing issue for Ubisoft in recent years. Assassin’s Creed Shadows didn’t come out on time over concerns it lacked the necessary level of polish, and new entries in the Far Cry and Ghost Recon series have also taken longer than expected. The resulting financial struggles have forced the publisher to seek outside funding and continue restructuring the business leading to layoffs and studio closures.
