EXCLUSIVE: Octavio Pisano is returning to NBC‘s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for a stint in Season 27. He is currently in New York shooting an episode as Joe Velasco. Sources close to production reveal his character is working undercover.
Pisano exited the longtime procedural as a series regular back in October, with his character leaving SVU to accept an undercover assignment for the DEA in San Diego, targeting drug runs. What this means is that he could return in a recurring or guest star role, which is what has happened on this occasion. Pisano will appear in at least one episode, but the total count is unknown at this time.
Starring Hargitay and her second-in-command, Ice-T as Sgt. Odafin “Fin” Tutuola, Law & Order: SVU chronicles the lives of the Special Victims Unit of the New York City Police Department, an elite squad of detectives who investigate crimes of sexual assault, child abuse and domestic violence. Kelli Giddish, Peter Scanavino, and Kevin Kane also star.
Dick Wolf is the creator and executive producer of the procedural. Michele Fazekas, Mariska Hargitay, Kenneth Brown, and Peter Jankowski also EP.
Pisano joined the long-running series in Season 23 in a recurring capacity before he was upped to series regular. He has also played Velasco on Law & Order: Organized Crime in a trio of special crossovers. Last year, he grew as a filmmaker, making his feature directorial debut with Wet Under Blue Sky, a boxing drama he also penned and starred in.
Dates and loglines for his upcoming appearance(s) will be revealed at a future date.
