That's apparently just the beginning, and it seems like Nikki might turn into a familiar face every Halloween. For this year, at least, she's not yet out of the spotlight. Just in time for the holiday, Nikki is set to make another big appearance in the crossover-happy online shooter Fortnite.
Fortnite leaker and news account HYPEX shared a first look at Nikki in Fortnite on X, showcasing two different appearances for the character that recreate her likeness as portrayed by Inde Navarrette. The first displays her intense frown from the movie, an unmistakeable signifier that she's on the verge of causing a scene if Bear doesn't reciprocate her affections.
The second replicates her blood-splattered look, although the game stops short of rendering it realistically. Instead, the liquid splashed on her face and chest appears to be more of a dark gray or gunmetal color, presumably with the intent of maintaining Fortnite's presence in a vaguely kid-friendly market. Although it's still a game oriented around armed warfare, Fortnite presents it all in a very cartoon manner, earning a T rating rather than the M attributed to many other online shooters.
Nikki will land in the Fortnite Item Shop on October 21, joining other Fortnite horror icons ten days before Halloween. Along with the skin, an Obsession bundle will also include the following:
-
One Wish Willow back bling
-
Nikki's Broken Bottle pickaxe
-
No No No emote
A follow-up post from HYPEX showcases the rest of the bundle. The One Wish Willow, which Bear breaks in the film to wish for Nikki's love, is sized up for the back bling, with the packaging and the stick crossing to form an X on her back. The bottle, meanwhile, is rendered in a half-shattered state, with shards of glass flying at the end of each swing as part of its animation.
The No No No emote will likely be the star of the show, with Nikki holding up large poster cards to silently deliver the dialogue from the film. Each successive No is written in a larger scrawl than the last, culminating in an aggressive "Don't do THAT!" that barely fits on the card. It's the perfect emote to make for some funny clips, even if it ends up wearing out its welcome.
If Obsession's box office success is anything to go by, there will probably be plenty of Nikkis running around in Fortnite this week, and that will likely just be a taste of all the Halloween costumes to come at parties this year. Nikki's role in the film is notably tragic, but it doesn't look like there's anything standing in the way of her becoming a pop culture trinket like the threats from so many other horror movies.
