If you wanted to listen to the most quintessentially British thing ever then I recommend a long-running BBC radio show called Just A Minute. It’s a comedy panel show where the competitors win points by speaking on a subject for 60 seconds without deviation, repetition or hesitation.
I mention this because “I've never seen that before!” is precisely the kind of subject they will be given to talk about. In their case it would most likely involve them telling anecdotes about roller-skating otters or helicopters in the shape of a banana.
No one, I suspect, would choose to ramble on about being INVENTIVE, SEMINAL or NOVEL. All words that in today’s Strands posed quite a struggle to find.
Yesterday's NYT Strands answers (Friday, January 2, game #670)
- BLANKET
- SLIPPERS
- COCOA
- ROBE
- FIREPLACE
- CUDDLES
- SPANGRAM: STAYWARM
