Nvidia will announce $2 billion in AI investments in Europe this week, according to a post on X.
A year of European deal-making
In 2025, Nvidia took part in 14 funding rounds for European tech and AI startups. In 2024, that number was 7. Those 2025 rounds totaled approximately $8 billion.
Key investments included €1.7 billion in Mistral AI’s Series C funding and £500 million in Nscale, with both deals announced in September 2025. Mistral is the French model developer often pitched as Europe’s homegrown answer to US AI labs. Nscale is a UK infrastructure player. Nvidia’s portfolio also stretches into fintech, with Revolut among its European investments.
The hardware behind the money
Nvidia is working with partners and governments to roll out its Blackwell GPU platform across multiple European countries. The country-by-country numbers are substantial:
France: Nvidia targets deploying 18,000 Grace Blackwell systems for Mistral AI in the first phase of their partnership.
UK: The company plans to deploy 14,000 Blackwell GPUs alongside Nebius and Nscale.
Germany: Nvidia aims to deliver 10,000 Blackwell GPUs for an industrial AI cloud.
Taken together, these efforts involve thousands of systems meant to deliver more than 3,000 exaflops of compute capacity.
Sovereign AI is the selling point
Nvidia frames much of this European expansion around sovereign AI, with stated goals covering digital sovereignty, industrial transformation and the needs of the public sector.
The EU’s AI Gigafactories tender is set to launch on July 30, 2026, seeking to build up to seven facilities backed by €10 billion in public support. Nvidia has signed letters of intent to supply hardware for the Gigafactories. AMD and Qualcomm have signed similar letters.
In June 2026, Nvidia unveiled a record 35 new AI supercomputers across 23 European countries, underscoring its role in advancing Europe’s digital infrastructure.
The $2 billion figure announced this week layers on top of the roughly $8 billion in 2025 rounds Nvidia joined across 14 deals. In the near term, the focus is on which companies receive funding, which countries benefit and how much of the money circles back into Nvidia hardware orders.
