Nine weather presenter Tim Davies fights back tears as he says final goodbye on Today after seven years

Today's longtime weatherman Tim Davies shared an emotional farewell with viewers on Friday as he bid goodbye after seven years. 

The beloved presenter, 42, signed off surrounded by his colleagues, with producers surprising him with a series of special visits throughout his final broadcast. 

Among them was an appearance by Davies' original producer Gerry Campbell, as well as Qantas staff and members of the Australian Girls Choir. 

Davies jetted across the world to present his daily weather segment, and according to the Qantas staff, travelled the equivalent of 16 trips around the globe during his Today show tenure. 

Davies became visibly emotional as he thanked his colleagues for their support over the past seven years. 

'I didn't do it all alone as you just saw, I need to thank my incredible team behind the scenes, team weather as we call them,' he said. 

'I know you don't get to see them every day, I'm the lucky one that gets to represent all their hard work and commitment, I'm so grateful to them they are the reason I lasted on this ride for so very long. We are friends in arms and brothers for life,' he added.

Davies thanked the broader production team before praising ex-Today co-hosts Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo, who were not present. 

At one point during the broadcast, Davies joked that the farewell was like a funeral because he was surrounded by 'all the people he loves'. 

'The past three weeks honestly has just brought the most incredible wave of love,' he said of the overwhelming response to his decision to leave Today. 

'Thank you for your messages, your letters, your DMs, your handshakes, your high fives at the airport as I'm jumping on a flight.'

'One of the hardest things in life is to be your true authentic self,' he said. 'Thank you to our audience for accepting me and allowing me just to be me every half-hour.'

'The best journeys begin when you say yes and have the courage to step into the unknown. That's a little bit of what I'm doing, but I'm excited for what is ahead whatever that may be.'

Nine is yet to confirm who will replace Davies in his role. 

Davies, who joined Today in 2019, has become a familiar face to viewers due to his action-packed weather crosses from every corner of Australia.

During his time on the program, he has taken part in a string of heart-racing stunts live on air, including skydiving, bungee jumping, abseiling down towering attractions, racing high-performance vehicles and even getting up close and personal with sharks and crocodiles.

He took over an astonishing 900 flights while serving in the role. 

Davies announced his departure from the program three weeks ago. 

'People always tell me I've got the best job in TV and they're not wrong,' he said at the time. 

'Working alongside the best broadcasters, travelling to new destinations daily and showcasing incredible Aussies is a privilege.'

The presenter added that delivering uplifting stories had been one of the greatest rewards of the role.

'Not all journos get to deliver good news, good vibes and a smile with each story, so having achieved all that and so much more, this seems like the right time to step back, enjoy a sleep-in, take a break without a camera crew and prepare for my next adventure.'
