Nina Dobrev & Shaun White Are Engaged!
Riddle me this! Did Nina Dobrev and Shaun White have the best couple’s Halloween costume?
At the very least, the newly-engaged couple certainly made the best dressed list when they stepped out for Kendall Jenner’s Halloween Party as The Riddler and Catwoman.
The duo arrived at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles for the Oct. 31 bash in character, with Shaun—a natural redhead—sporting even more prominently orange dyed hair, along with a green eye mask and matching morph suit with question marks all over it. To accessorize, the Olympic gold medalist wore black dress shoes and carried a wooden cane.
Meanwhile, Nina opted for an all-black leather Catwoman suit, complete with a mask that wrapped around her head and face along with a bold red lip and the comic book character’s infamous whip.
Nina and Shaun’s Halloween night out at Kendall’s party—which also saw Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly, Emma Chamberlain, Kendall’s sister Kylie Jenneramong those in attendance—was certainly head-turning, but it can’t match the excitement of their recent engagement announcement, which they shared on social media Oct. 30.
“She said yes,” Shaun wrote in an Instagram post at the time, with photos that showed off his romantic candlelight proposal, with Nina later adding in her own post, “RIP Boyfriend, hello fiancé.”
And since the couple had been together since 2019, it had been a long time coming for their milestone. In fact, Shaun admitted he had concocted two separate plans to propose to the Vampire Diaries actress before he officially popped the question earlier this month.
Indeed, the 38-year-old had originally planned to propose to his now-fiancée over the summer, but the plan was interrupted by Nina’s unexpected biking injury—which left her with a fractured knee—as he told Vogue in an article published Oct. 30.

Later, he planned to propose to the 35-year-old during a trip to Cape Town, but then felt it was too predictable—as he added to the fashion outlet Nina and her friends were expecting it to happen during that trip.
Instead, Shaun opted for an otherwise typical week in October—one that initially had Nina craving a string of nights in. To thwart those plans, Shaun went so far as to create a fake invitation to an intimate dinner with Anna Wintourat the restaurant he planned to hold the proposal.
As Nina put it to Vogue, “He made the invite look so legitimate.”
But all of Shaun’s hard work to surprise Nina paid off. “I went into shock,” she explained. “I just froze and stared at him, ‘No, no, no!’”
