Red Hood and Nightwing covers

Red Hood may have a reputation in the Bat-Family for his morally grey crime-fighting methods, but a Dick Grayson cosplayer just proved that Nightwing could be far more terrifying with a costume that's as badass as it is intimidating. Now, it’s up to fans to decide—does Red Hood’s iconic helmeted look scream villain more, or does this bold reimagining of Nightwing take the crown for the most fearsome appearance?

...a sure way for dedicated Nightwing cosplayers to elevate their costumes and transform the Bludhaven vigilante into an anti-hero.

Cosplayer and KOMBATIV host Eduardo Lagares has officially redefined the Nightwing cosplaying scene with a costume that is as innovative as it is brutally badass. In this striking ensemble, Dick Grayson dons an armored suit and helmet that put Red Hood’s similar look to shame.

Lagares replaces Dick’s typical lightweight Kevlar and Nomex blend with heavy armor, incorporating upper body gear and bladed gauntlets. However, the most awe-inspiring aspect of this costume is Lagares’s helm, which, while reminiscent of Red Hood’s, features Dick’s signature blue and black color scheme. The intimidating brow of the helmet is also adorned with the Nightwing insignia, further enhancing its menacing appeal.

Nightwing Gets His Own 'Red Hood' Helmet in Innovative Cosplay

Nightwing looks angry in front of Red Hood.

The expressionless helm makes this one of the most intimidating Nightwing costumes to date, and it would be particularly fitting if Dick Grayson ever decided to take a walk on the dark side. This look stands in stark contrast to the Bludhaven hero’s typical aesthetic, which usually features a lightweight and flexible costume paired with a slim domino mask. The standard costume is designed to complement Nightwing’s agile and quick fighting style, heavily influenced by his acrobatic background. In contrast, Lagares’s suit suggests a Dick who has dramatically altered his fighting style to embrace a more direct approach, focused on delivering and absorbing harder blows.

Thanks to a post that Lagares was tagged in, fans have learned that the helm of the suit is courtesy of Godofprops, a cosplay and costume prop producer that specializes in helms and other headgear. For those looking to acquire their own Nightwing helm, they can visit www.godofprops.com to make a purchase. Godofprops advertises their products as available for customers in the United States, UK, Europe, Australia, and beyond, with shipping options that take 6-8 days through DHL Express. This makes it a sure way for dedicated Nightwing cosplayers to elevate their costumes and transform the Bludhaven vigilante into an anti-hero.

Jason Todd's Red Hood Gets Even MORE Armored

Lagares has also showcased his duality by cosplaying a particularly armored Red Hood. While Jason Todd is typically portrayed in heavy armor and a helmet, this cosplay elevates the look to the next level. It goes beyond Kevlar and incorporates body armor reminiscent of Red Hood’s Task Force Z appearance, which is one of the anti-hero’s most heavily armored looks in comics, second only to his Arkham Knight design. Lagares also sports a unique helmet that maintains the classic, expressionless aesthetic; however, this version features a thick silver outline that undoubtedly reinforces the durability of the hood. So, who do you think has the most villain-potential look: Nightwing or Red Hood?
