Nicole Kidman is Dr. Kay Scarpetta, a medical examiner trying to unmask a serial killer in the upcoming Prime Video series Scarpetta, premiering March 11. The first trailer revealing the intensity of the hunt can be watched above.
Based on Patricia Cornwell’s bestselling Kay Scarpetta book series, Scarpetta centers on the titular character, an unrelenting medical examiner, who, with skilled hands and an unnerving eye, is determined to serve as the voice of the victims, unmask a serial killer, and prove that her career-making case from 28 years prior isn’t also her undoing.
The series delves beyond the crime scene to explore the psychological complexities of the perpetrators and investigators across two timelines. From the past set in the late ’90s, to her present-day, where she returns to her hometown and her former career while investigating a murder. Not only is Scarpetta pursuing justice, but she’s also navigating complicated relationships like the fraught dynamic with her sister Dorothy Farinelli (Jamie Lee Curtis).
As you can see in the trailer, the leading cast is stacked with multiple award nominees and winners, including Bobby Cannavale as Detective Pete Marino, with Simon Baker as FBI profiler Benton Wesley, and Ariana DeBose as Kay’s tech-savvy niece Lucy Watson.
The additional cast includes Rosy McEwen, Amanda Righetti, Jake Cannavale, and Hunter Parrish, who portray the past versions of Kidman, Curtis, Cannavale, and Baker’s characters, respectively.
