Nicole Kidman has spoken out about the toll her body has taken filming dramatic scenes for her new erotic movie Babygirl as well as the show Big Little Lies.
In an interview with Zendaya for Variety's Actors on Actors feature, the Oscar-winner even said that she has been left with 'bruises' all over her body due to the intensity of the scenes.
Kidman, 57, previously revealed how she had to pause filming the drama because she didn't want to act out having anymore orgasms.
'It's really taxing going through all of those emotions,' she said, suggesting that your body doesn't know it's just acting out the drama.
'So you’re putting yourself through the trauma. On Babygirl, there were parts that are now not in the film that we shot that gave me - it was exhausting, but it was also just emotionally disturbing.
She added: 'The same when I was doing Big Little Lies. That was disturbing to my body and my psyche, because I couldn’t tell what was real and what wasn’t. I would have real bruises all over my back and body.'

In the movie, Kidman plays a high-powered married company boss who falls for a kinky young intern played by Harris Dickinson, 28.
Talking about the intense scene on both the film and the HBO show Big Little Lies, Kidman continued: 'My brain would say, ‘Hold on. You’re hurt.' So I’ve done things where they clean my chakras and pray and get out the sage.
'Honestly, I’ll take whatever so I can step into the next place free, and not scarred or damaged or wounded.
'Which sounds like I’m bats*** crazy, but I'm not. Even just a massage, where suddenly you get a beautiful touch.
'That's healing, and we have to heal. I’m still learning not to sacrifice my body for the sake of the art, because part of me wants to. Having to value who I am, it's a journey. But you seem very stable.'
However, it seems the ex-wife of Tom Cruise did not have any hesitations about the movie, despite the steamy content.
'As soon as I heard it was called Babygirl, I'm like, 'Yeah. I want to be the babygirl.'

Babygirl hits cinemas on Christmas Day in the US and January 10 in the UK.
The movie follows powerful CEO Romy (Kidman) who puts her career and life's work in danger when she begins an intense affair with her young intern Samuel (Dickinson).
Director Halina Reijn was inspired by Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas' sexual thriller Basic Instinct and by hearing about a woman who had never experienced sexual pleasure during her 25-year marriage.
Nicole said she was attracted to the project because it was 'an area [she'd] never been' in her career.
She explained: 'I've always been on a quest as an actor, I'm always going, where have I not been? And what can I explore as a human being? And this was an area I'd never been.'
