Nicola Coughlan wears a prosthetic baby bump as she is seen on the set of Netflix's Tales Of The Unexpected for the first time

Nicola Coughlan has been spotted on the set of Netflix's Tales Of The Unexpected for the first time in Manchester on Monday. 

She was seen on set with her on-screen husband When Barbara Met Alan star Arthur Hughes, as she showcased her prosthetic bump on the street. 

The show is an adaptation of Roald Dahl's 1979 collection of dark and twist-featuring short stories Tales of the Unexpected, with Nicola's story telling the thrilling tale of the 1953 short story Lamb To The Slaughter.

Nicola is set to play pregnant housewife Mary Maloney which sees her waiting for her husband, Patrick, to return home from his job as a police detective. 

It is implied that Patrick – played by Arthur – has asked Mary for a divorce and in a fit of rage, she kills her husband before the story takes a shocking turn.

While filming, she was seen outside a police station in a thick knit cardigan with a frumpy ensemble beneath while she went make-up free. 

In 1979, Lamb To The Slaughter was adapted by Robin Chapman for the series Tales of the Unexpected, with Susan George as Mary and Brian Blessed as the police detective in charge of the investigation of her husband's murder. 

The streaming giant Netflix officially acquired the Roald Dahl Story Company back in 2021, and have since produced an animated take on The Twits and the upcoming theatrical release, Charlie v the Chocolate Factory. 

Her latest project comes one month after she began filming her guest stint for Only Murders In The Building in London.

Swapping the famous Bath boardwalk for London's iconic Freemasons' Hall, the actress sported an unlikely disguise to play her character alongside stars Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short.

Only Murders' new series sees a string of new talent join the cast, including David Tennant, Jodie Whittaker and Jim Broadbent.

They join an already huge list of names set to guest star in this new season, including Jennifer Saunders, Sean Teale, Simone Ashley, Amar Chadha-Patel, Rhea Norwood, Matthew Beard, Sharon Horgan, Martin Freeman and Lesley Nicol.

The scenes appeared to be a recreation of a courtroom trial, with Nicola's character trying to disguise herself by wrapping a scarf around her head.

Freemasons' Hall is the headquarters of the United Grand Lodge of England and the Supreme Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of England.

Season six of Only Murders will be the first to take place outside of the US, with all of its main stars flying to the UK to kick off filming in May.

Sharing news of her casting on Instagram, Nicola called the role 'the nicest summer job I've ever had including that one year I sold sweets from a shed!!'

In May, Martin also returned to work on the show after his daughter Katherine died at age 42 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

She had been found dead inside her Hollywood Hills home after authorities responded to the residence.

Days later, her Los Angeles County Department of Public Health death certificate confirmed that she died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

The document additionally noted that Short's daughter had been cremated.
