Nicki Minaj on Friday pushed back on requests she submit records of text messages to a Los Angeles court amid an ongoing lawsuit with her one-time assistant.
Brandon Garrett, who formerly worked for the singer, asked her to turn over all communications between her and others regarding his 'role, duties, or performance' while he worked for her, according to a court filing reviewed by The Daily Mail.
Garrett's legal team asked the court for Minaj to provide 'emails, text messages, direct messages, letters, memoranda, or notes' she wrote about him from January 2024 through April 2024, according to the filing.
He previously claimed in a 2025 filing that the 43-year-old musical artist had been physically and verbally abusive with him in an April 2024 incident in her dressing room at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. Minaj has denied the claims in the lawsuit.
Garrett asked the court to order the Grammy-nominated singer - who has been in the headlines after President Donald Trump remarked on her figure during a campaign rally - for all communications she sent regarding the alleged incident, according to the filing.
The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for both parties for further comment on the story.

The Super Bass performer, through her legal team, denied she had any messages such as the ones described in Garrett's filing.
Minaj's legal team said that the requests for messages were 'overbroad,' 'vague and ambiguous,' and in some cases, violated the privacy of third parties or attorney-client privilege, according to the filing.
Garrett said in a filing that in the April 2024 incident, Minaj 'began berating and threatening' him 'before striking him multiple times on the face and body.'
He claimed in his lawsuit that Minaj got 'visibly upset' after he had another one of her employees pick up a prescription for her.
Garrett claimed in his filing, Billboard previously reported, that Minaj told him, 'You have lost your f***ing mind and if my husband was here, he would knock out your f***king teeth.
'You're a dead man walking. You just f***ed up your whole life and you will never be anyone, I'll make sure of it.'
A lawyer for Minaj told The Daily Mail the claims were 'false and frivolous' in January of 2025.
Garrett claimed Minaj had hit him 'multiple times on the face and body,' and he 'sustained physical injuries, emotional trauma, and related damages' as a result.
