Nia Jax Queen Of The Ring

Since her return to WWE in 2023, Nia Jax has dominated the WWE women's roster, winning the WWE Women's Championship, becoming the second Queen of the Ring, and cementing her legacy as one of the most formidable and commanding Superstars. After losing her championship to Tiffany Stratton in her memorable Money in the Bank cash-in, Jax set her sights on Monday Night Raw and, more specifically, the current WWE Women's World Heavyweight Champion, Rhea Ripley, a Superstar she's never beaten for a championship she's yet to attain.

Jax spoke to Screen Rant ahead of her match with Ripley at this weekend's Saturday Night's Main Event, taking place in San Antonio, TX on Saturday, January 25th.

Nia Jax Will Approach Her Match With Rhea Ripley Differently This Time

The Two Powerhouses Will Collide at Saturday Night's Main Event

While Jax praised Ripley and her in-ring abilities, she says she's ready to take a different approach to the match after her last attempt at 2024's Elimination Chamber.

Rhea is one of our top athletes. Female, male, she's one of our top athletes. I think, previously, when we got into it, we had the main event in Elimination Chamber last year, I tried a different strategy. But this time I feel like I got to match her with some intensity. I think just coming out of the gate, and going pound for pound with her and seeing if I could just wear her down and then pick at her, pick her apart.

Jax then spoke about her feelings about competing for a WWE championship on Main Event, her first appearance and competition since WWE revived the series earlier this year, and how this opportunity would not only allow her to achieve another wanted accolade, but would prove to Ripley, and the entire women's roster, that she's not going to stop until she gets what she wants.

It's a beautiful history. WWE is so good at keeping our history and our culture so strong. I come from a wrestling family, and I've seen my family throughout the years, the decades, on all these historic shows. Being a part of Saturday Night's Main Event is going to be a cool thing on its own, but competing for this women's World Heavyweight Championship is huge because I haven't held that title. That's something that I want in my accolades. That's something I want when I look back in my history to say that, 'Okay, I got that as one as well.' Rhea thinks that she's at the top of the pyramid for the women's division, but I have a little bit of a rude awakening for her, because last year was my year, and I'm continuing it this year. I'm coming for that title. I don't care what gets in my way.

Saturday Night's Main Event Has an Impressive Card for New NBC Viewers

Nia Jax and Rhea Ripley are two of the most dominating competitors on the WWE women's roster, so it should come as no surprise that this match would be presented in prime time on NBC, as the company works to build its audience in that time slot. The card is a strong one, with three other matches announced as of press time, including another monstrous face-off, this time on the men's side as Braun Strowman faces off against Jacob Fatu. In addition, Sheamus will challenge Bron Breakker for the only WWE championship he's never held, the Intercontinental Championship, and Jey Uso will attempt to take the World Heavyweight Championship away from Gunther.

WWE is pulling out all the stops by stacking the card with matches that are designed to be heavy, hard-hitting, and forceful, allowing new fans tuning in on NBC to experience WWE the way it is meant to be seen. As Nia Jax prepares to dominate Ripley and claim her place on top of the Raw roster, a move to Netflix after her win will only help elevate her profile within the company more than it already is while opening up an entirely new set of challengers for her newest reign.

WWE's Saturday Night's Main Event takes place at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, TX on Saturday, January 25th, and will air live on NBC and Peacock, 8p ET/5pm PT. Check your local listings for additional start times.
