San Francisco 49ers' Keion White Shot in Ankle After Attending Super Bowl 2026

Keion White is on the mend.

Hours after attending the 2026 Super Bowl, the San Francisco 49ers defensive end was shot and taken to the hospital, according to his team.

"Keion White was a victim of a shooting and sustained a bullet wound to his ankle this morning in San Francisco," the NFL team shared in a Feb. 9 statement. "He is currently undergoing surgery at a local hospital. We will provide further updates when appropriate."

White was shot around 4 a.m. on Mission Street, according to the San Francisco Police Department. Though investigators determined that the shooting stemmed from an argument, they do not believe White, 27, was part of the disagreement.

"A preliminary investigation revealed a verbal altercation occurred between two groups inside a business," authorities told CBS Sports. "The victim was injured when shots were fired by an unknown suspect."

The police department’s spokesman Evan Semoffsky also told The New York Times, “Our officers are working diligently on this investigation and we’re following multiple leads.”

Amid his recovery, Keion also shared a look into his Super Bowl Sunday, when the Seattle Seahawks triumphed over the New England Patriots in a 29-13 game. In addition to a selfie from inside Levi’s Stadium, White snapped a photo of the flyover from Charlie Puth’s performance of “The Star Spangled Banner.”

He also included a picture of Bad Bunny’s halftime performance, which featured surprise appearances from Jessica Alba, Pedro Pascal, Alix Earle and Karol G, as well as performances from Ricky Martin and Lady Gaga

“Thank you Benito for including me in this powerful, important, and meaningful performance,” Gaga wrote on Instagram Feb. 9. “I am so humbled to be a part of this moment. It’s all the more special because it was with you and your beautiful heart and music.”
