Mushu, a character long missing from Disney Lorcana, has finally arrived to the popular card game with a new card illustrated by Mulan's original illustrator. Spoiler season has started for Archazia's Island, the newest Disney Lorcana set due for release next month. The new set is poised to be one of the game's biggest yet, with several new card mechanics and abilities. The most notable of these new abilities is dual-ink cards, which can only be used in decks consisting of both ink types that appear on the card. In exchange, these cards often have abilities tied to both ink types.
Today, Disney Lorcana officially revealed the first-ever Mushu card, which will appear in Archazia's Island. The new card, Mushu, Majestic Dragon, provides two major buffs to other characters in play. Any card that challenges an opponent's card during the player's turn gains Resist +2 (thus reducing the amount of damage they take) and any time one of the player's characters banishes another character during a turn, the player gains 2 lore. What's more - Mushu's card is illustrated by Tom Bancroft, a former Disney illustrator who also created Mushu and was the character's supervising animator during Mulan's production.
Mushu Has Finally Made His Way To Disney Lorcana, & The Card Is Impressive
Card Allows Players To Gain Lore Every Time Their Characters Banish An Opponent's Characters
While characters from Mulan have appeared in various Disney Lorcana sets, this marks the first time that Mushu has appeared in the game. The timing is likely due to Archazia's Island having a "pet" theme, although Mushu would probably be opposed to being called anyone's pet. The card is also incredibly viable, as it rewards players for banishing characters with lore. As several other Ruby or Steel cards also provide lore for either challenging or banishing, Mushu seems to be a very powerful card for Ruby/Steel decks.

Disney Lorcana's upcoming Reign of Jafar set now has an official release date and pre-release date. Here is everything revealed about the set so far.
As with other dual-ink cards, the trade-off to Mushu's powerful abilities is that players have to use a Ruby/Steel deck. That style of deck has not been very viable to this point, in part because Ruby (an ink type focused on aggression) and Steel (which is more stout and defensive-minded) haven't really taken in the metagame up to this point due to a lack of lore generation. But with this card and Denahi, Impatient Hunter (another Ruby/Steel dual-ink card that's Reckless and has Resist +2), there might be a bit more lasting power with this kind of deck.
Our Take: The Latest Disney Lorcana Card Could Make Ruby/Steel Challenge Decks Viable Again
Ruby/Steel Still Needs A Card Draw Engine, But This Card Is Still Fantastic

Mushu, Majestic Dragon is a fantastic card that provides a very big boost to Ruby/Steel decks. However, the color combination still suffers from one fatal flaw - the lack of a card draw generator. Without some sort of card draw, Mushu, Majestic Dragon could go wasted as it will continue to get outpaced by other popular card types. However, if some sort of card draw effect gets added to either Ruby or Steel in the new Disney Lorcana set, a lot of players will gladly build a deck around this fantastic new card.
