New Zelda 40th Anniversary Release Appears Online

There's absolutely no doubt that it's going to continue being a hugely exciting year for fans of The Legend of Zelda, with the beloved franchise celebrating 40 years since its inception. Along the way, we've had plenty of memorable adventures, and it seems like there are going to be plenty more where that came from, if all of the upcoming arrivals can deliver.

The big one is undoubtedly the Ocarina of Time remake, which brings back arguably the most iconic game in the entire series for a new generation of players. At the same time, the movie adaptation is still chugging along, with more news on that expected later this year if all continues to go well.

That's not all, though, as new information suggests that there's even more releases tied to the franchise that should be on the way quite soon.

As first reported by ComicBook.com, new leaks from Necrolipe and Mike Odyssey, who have become known for accurately sharing information on Nintendo's plans, suggest that the company is planning to release a special Legend of Zelda Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller.

Necrolipe went further than Odyssey by also confirming details about some of the visuals that fans can expect from the controller. Those include a Triforce emblem in the center between the plus and minus buttons, as well as green and gold hand grips, which won't be dissimilar from the ones we have already seen for the Splatoon-themed Switch Pro controllers.

Neither of the sources went as far as naming when we might expect to see the new hardware, but if real, it has surely been designed to be released as part of the series' 40th anniversary. That would mean a reveal is on the way in very short order, if it does turn out to be a real product.

While both claims taken individually wouldn't amount to much, multiple sources hearing the same information independently, does lend some credence to the rumors. As always though, we should take it with something of a pinch of salt, until we get full confirmation from Nintendo themselves that they're going ahead with the peripheral.

If all of the confirmed projects and rumors end up being real, and they deliver on their promise, it really is going to be the best year to be a Zelda fan in history. Even if Ocarina alone delivers the nostalgic experience we're hoping for, then it should be an all-timer regardless.
