Since 2019, Kevin Erdmann has been one of Screen Rant's Senior Staff Writers, covering all kinds of Superhero and Star Wars media with Easter egg breakdowns, theory pieces, breaking news, and more. A huge Star Wars & MCU fan, Kevin also loves Batman (because he's Batman), but could talk for hours about why Nightwing is DC's greatest hero.

With 8 years of total experience covering entertainment and pop culture, Kevin has gotten the chance to interview top creatives and talent, and has also attended major media events like Disney's D23 convention.

Majoring in Cinema Studies with a minor in Comics and Cartoon Studies from the UofO, Kevin lives in Oregon with his wonderful wife, adorable dog, and sinister cat who is no doubt currently plotting his demise.

With Avengers: Doomsday on the horizon for the end of the year and Avengers: Secret Wars expected to close out the MCU's Multiverse Saga the year after that, some recent updates support my biggest theory for Chris Hemsworth's Thor.

Avengers: Doomsday is confirmed to feature the God of Thunder in a pretty big way, especially following the recent Doomsday teaser starring Thor, who was shown praying to Odin ahead of imminent war. However, we now know that Thor's story likely won't end with Avengers: Doomsday, potentially supporting a very exciting idea for the founding Avenger's role in Secret Wars.

Thor's MCU Future After Avengers: Doomsday Has Pretty Much Been Confirmed

Last week during press for their new movie Crime 101, Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo recently suggested that Hemsworth's Thor will appear in Secret Wars. This week, Hemsworth confirmed on the Smartless Podcast that there have been talks and plans for more Thor to appear a "couple more times" beyond Doomsday:

"I was talking to Kevin Feige about it, and he said it’s cool because the audience now expects dramatic turns with the character." He elaborated that, "Whatever we do next—we’ve got some ideas to do something pretty unique again and hopefully be different."

While this does generate some excitement for a potential Thor 5, one can imagine that one of those new appearances is likely Secret Wars in 2027. Keeping that in mind, all one has to do is look at the 2015 comics crossover of the same time to imagine what Thor's role might look like in the major conclusion of the Multiverse Saga.

Will Avengers: Secret Wars Debut A Live-Action Thor Corps?

Alex Ross painting of the Thor Corps in action

In the comics, God Emperor Doom’s patchwork realm of fragmented realities known as Battleworld was enforced by his Thor Corps, an army of Thor variants who served as Doom’s police in 2015's Secret Wars. Naturally, a live-action Thor Corps would be perfect ahead of the Multiverse Saga's end. Imagine Chris Hemsworth playing multiple versions of God of Thunder in the MCU like we've never seen before.

Currently, it remains to be seen all that Avengers: Doomsday will entail, nor how much Avengers: Secret Wars will adapt from the comics. Regardless, the concept of a live-action Thor Corps is definitely something super fun to think about while we anxiously wait for the next two Avengers movies and beyond for the God of Thunder's MCU future.

Avengers: Doomsday releases in theaters on December 18th, 2026 from Marvel Studios. Avengers: Secret Wars releases December 17th, 2027.
