Chris is a Senior News Writer for Collider. He can be found in an IMAX screen, with his eyes watering and his ears bleeding for his own pleasure. He joined the news team in 2022 and accidentally fell upwards into a senior position despite his best efforts.

For reasons unknown, he enjoys analyzing box office receipts, giant sharks, and has become known as the go-to man for all things Bosch, Mission: Impossible and Christopher Nolan in Collider's news division. Recently, he found himself yeehawing along to the Dutton saga on the Yellowstone Ranch.

He is proficient in sarcasm, wit, Photoshop and working unfeasibly long hours. Amongst his passions sit the likes of the history of the Walt Disney Company, the construction of theme parks, steam trains and binge-watching Gilmore Girls with a coffee that is just hot enough to scald him.

His obsession with the Apple TV+ series Silo is the subject of mockery within the Senior News channel, where his feelings about Taylor Sheridan's work are enough to make his fellow writers roll their eyes.

Netflix usually has a decent selection of horror movies at this time of year, but for a change, it's bringing one of the most iconic horror franchises in Hollywood to audiences in a way none of us have possibly expected. Yes, we've dealt with possessed dolls, demonic nuns and haunted houses, but now subscribers are getting the chance to investigate something supernatural themselves.

The Conjuring is officially coming to Netflix on October 13 with The Conjuring: Unspoken, a new interactive horror game developed by Supermassive Games, the studio behind Until Dawn and The Quarry. The game takes place within the established Conjuring universe and allows Netflix subscribers to investigate a haunting using their television and smartphone.

The Conjuring: Unspoken is an interactive paranormal investigation you can play from your couch. It’s a narrative experience, so you shape the story by choosing different dialogue options as you play. Using your phone, you scour the historic Red Lion Inn (reportedly a haunted place in England) for clues about things that go bump in the night.

As demonologist Francesca Noakes, you scan the area around you with an electromagnetic field reader, an infrared camera, and a spirit box — ghost-hunter tools of the trade for finding apparitions in the wild. The big screen shows your virtual environment, while the one in your hand serves as the controller for these tools. The infrared camera, for instance, allows you to see a thermal overlay of the environment while you’re looking for cold spots that indicate an otherworldly presence.

How Does 'The Conjuring' Work on Netflix?

The Conjuring: Unspoken is designed to be played through Netflix's television gaming service, so your smartphone becomes the controller, while the action unfolds on your TV. Players can choose dialogue options, investigate different locations and decide how to respond as the haunting becomes increasingly dangerous. Until Dawn and The Quarry both allow players to make decisions that can have serious consequences for their characters, and Unspoken follows a similar approach.

The original The Conjuring arrived in 2013, starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. You don’t need to watch the movies to play The Conjuring: Unspoken. That said, if you’re in deep with the Conjuring universe, you’ll get a lot more from the experience. There are a few familiar faces that pop up in the game, and knowing the backstory adds to the overall impact.

The Conjuring: Unspoken launches exclusively on Netflix on October 13, 2026.
