Less than a month from the game’s official release date, a brand-new trailer has been released for Resident Evil Requiem that may have deliberately teased a legacy character other than Leon S. Kennedy making an appearance: Ada Wong. This is no ordinary trailer, either, as it is dubbed a ‘short film,’ shot in live action, and stars horror icon Maika Monroe.
Launched earlier today on the official Resident Evil YouTube channel, this trailer clocks in at three minutes and 35 seconds, telling the story of a mother and daughter who experience the viral outbreak in Raccoon City. However, the tail end of the trailer features two unseen individuals communicating, with the latter's voice sounding a lot like Lily Gao, potentially revealing that none other than Ada could play a role in Resident Evil Requiem.
Is Ada Wong In Resident Evil Requiem’s Newest Trailer?
The trailer itself tells a harrowing tale, narrated by Maika Monroe, of a survivor who was unable to save her daughter (presumably killed by one of Resident Evil’s Lickers, no less) and becomes a zombie at some point during the Raccoon City Incident. This story is poignant, and it brilliantly illustrates what the lives of Raccoon City’s residents were like while Leon, Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, and others were battling bioweapons and uncovering Umbrella’s sinister secrets.
Essentially, this trailer could feasibly be a live-action adaptation of Resident Evil Outbreak. That said, the story of the survivor and her daughter doesn’t seem like it’ll be relevant in terms of the events of Resident Evil Requiem’s story, at least not as much as the characters who can be heard speaking might be.
Transcribed, these two lines of dialogue read: “That’s the last of them. Facility secured,” and “Copy that. Raccoon City is ours.”
The last voice bears a striking resemblance to Lily Gao, Ada’s actor in Resident Evil 4’s remake. There is still roughly a month to go until Resident Evil Requiem launches, but it’s possible this could be our earliest confirmation that Ada is being brought back.
Ada May Be A Resident Evil Requiem Villain
If this truly is Ada, it seems as if she’s adopted an antihero/antagonist role once more. The voice that speaks with her references the “facility” being secured, insinuating that the NEST below Raccoon City’s RPD station has been reclaimed decades later, and the voice replying “Raccoon City is ours” suggests that she is leading an organization’s attempts to reclaim the city as a whole.
Of course, it’s presently unconfirmed if this is Lily Gao speaking in the trailer, let alone whether Ada will return in Resident Evil Requiem. Either way, it’ll be interesting to see how much this Resident Evil Requiem trailer is actually inspired by the game’s story or events, as well as what is reflected in it regarding the Raccoon City Incident and all the innocent people who lost their lives.
Resident Evil Requiem is scheduled to be released for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on February 27, 2026.
