The former could lead to another big tragedy in Onyx Storm, which is already poised to be an emotional roller coaster for Violet and Xaden. Killing another one of Violet's family members so soon after her mother could feel like overkill, and it would distract Violet from what she needs to do.

Having Mira be a traitor would also be a devastating blow — and not necessarily one readers would be on board with. While Yarros could likely pull it off with a few twists and turns, it would remove one of Violet's biggest supports in The Empyrean Series.
