New 'Injustice 3' Leak Teases Highly Anticipated DC Characters

We now have even more evidence that a new Injustice game is likely in the works. On Monday, MP1st spotted another mention of the unannounced title on a job resume. In this case, a stunt actor working on the game listed her involvement as a double for Injustice 3 under coordinator Jake Huang, who oversaw stunt work for Mortal Kombat 1. While the stunt person’s resume has been updated to remove mentions of the game, an Internet Archive backup confirms the Injustice characters were listed as early as July of this year.

Which Injustice characters does the resume confirm?

On top of adding further evidence that NetherRealm Studios’ next game is another entry in the DC fighting game series, the listing suggests two characters are coming to the game: Supergirl and Batwoman. Of the pair, Supergirl (Kara Zor-El) previously appeared in Injustice 2, where she was voiced by the esteemed Laura Bailey.

Batwoman did not appear in either Injustice game, mostly because she is dead in this continuity. For those unaware, the Injustice series is set in an alternate DC timeline where the Joker tricks Superman into killing Lois Lane and destroying Metropolis. This grief transforms Superman into a ruthless dictator who kills alleged criminals. In response, Batman begins an insurgency to topple this regime. In addition to the two games released in 2013 and 2017, Injustice includes an animated movie adaptation and a prequel comic — this is where Batwoman dies. As for how Batwoman is back, Injustice 3 could take place beforethe previous games. Alternatively, since this is a superhero story, she may come back to life thanks to the Lazarus Pit or multiverse shenanigans.

What other evidence do we have that Injustice 3 is on the way?

Beyond the latest resume leak, a little over a week ago, EventHubs spotted a playtester job posting for an “unreleased AAA 2D fighting game” which, based on context clues, sounded like it was for the rumored Injustice 3. Beyond this, multiple voice actors have mentioned Injustice 3’s existence, and NetherRealm’s creative director, Ed Boon, has been posting Injustice clips on social media. The timing also lines up logically: There was a four-year gap between the studio's last two releases, and it’s been almost four years since NetherRealm's most recent game, Mortal Kombat 1. All that said, if Injustice 3 really is on the way, let’s hope they leave the dumpster combos behind.
