Over the course of its 50th anniversary this year, Hello Kitty, one of Japan's most beloved mascots, has released a plethora of exciting collaborations, some more unexpected than others, such as the recent crossover with Junji Ito. That said, Sanrio's newest collaboration with Gege Akutami's hit franchise is showing fans an unexpected cute side to Jujutsu Kaisen.
Shōnen Jump's hit dark fantasy Jujutsu Kaisen recently teamed up with the bright and adorable Sanrio to release exciting new merchandise. The merchandise features adorable chibi versions of Jujutsu Kaisen's main cast paired up with Sanrio's cutest mascots. The new merchandise fittingly went on sale on Toho Animation's storefront on Halloween and includes stickers, files, hand towels, and ballpoint pens with charms, all priced between 440 to 880 Japanese yen.

Over the years, Sanrio and Jujutsu Kaisen have teamed up many times to create exclusive merchandise with each new collaboration being cuter than the last. Sanrio's Hello Kitty comes to life in a stunning and luxurious 50th-anniversary gold statue that fans will want, despite the hefty price tag.
Much like previous crossovers, the Sanrio mascots are dressed just like their accompanying Jujutsu Kaisen character. The new crossover features ten characters from Jujutsu Kaisen and twelve from Sanrio, these being Sukuna, who has been paired with Hello Kitty as usual, Yuji with the energetic Pochacco, Megumi with Badtz Maru, Nobara with My Melody, Goji with Cinnamoroll, Nanami with Pompompurin, Geto with Ruromanic, and Mahito with Little Twin Stars.
In addition to these usual pairings, the new crossover features two new adorable additions, which are Todo and Choso. Todo has been paired with the fashionable Bonbonribbon, who is known to love to sing and dance, most likely as a reference to Todo's beloved idol Takada-chan. Meanwhile, Choso has been depicted accompanying the cheerful and determined Minna no Tabo who looks beyond adorable dressed like Choso.
The Jujutsu Kaisen x Sanrio Collab Proves Opposites Do Attract
Overall, though the two franchises could not be more different, the resulting crossover is still so unique that it makes sense why Sanrio and Jujutsu Kaisen continue to team up to produce merchandise. Given Jujutsu Kaisen's dark themes and the distinct tonal shift since the Shibuya Arc, it is quite refreshing to see the series' characters depicted in such an adorable, lighthearted manner which may be why Sanrio and Jujutsu Kaisen continue to team up despite their differences.
Jujutsu Kaisen is available on Crunchyroll.
