Health tech provider Withings launched its FDA-cleared BPM Vision on Wednesday. The device, which costs $150 on Withings' website, measures blood pressure at home easily and accurately, aiming to make hypertension monitoring more accessible for regular use.
BPM Vision offers clinical-grade results and intuitive instructions that guide users through a blood pressure reading. The device takes three measurements (per doctors' recommendations) for an accurate reading. The device includes a high-resolution display for easy reading and color-coded results. These readings auto-sync with the Withings app, where users can track their health data over time and bring it to their doctor for consultation. BPM Vision can track and store up to eight users' blood pressure data in the app and on the device.

The setup comes with step-by-step measurement tutorials to help users measure their blood pressure correctly and with the proper technique for an accurate and reliable read.
A serious condition, high blood pressure can contribute to heart disease and stroke. According to the Centers for Disease Control, it was a primary or contributing cause of more than 680,000 deaths in the US in 2022. Half of all US adults have high blood pressure.
At the same time, Americans aren't equipped with enough knowledge on the subject. One 2023 study found that 64% of study participants were confident in their understanding of blood pressure ranges. However, that confidence contradicted their reported understanding of what healthy blood pressure is and looks like, with only 39% of participants knowing what a normal and healthy blood pressure range is.
"By guiding users through proper measurement techniques and providing instant, easy-to-read results, BPM Vision encourages more consistent tracking -- leading to better insights and improved heart health over time," Eric Carreel, founder and president of Withings, said in a press release.

The launch of BPM Vision reflects a growing trend by tech brands to develop medical-grade devices that people can use outside of the doctor's office.
BPM Vision is available on Wednesday through Withings's website. In May, the blood pressure monitor will be available at Amazon and other retailers.
