The newest game from the EVE Online franchise is out and it's not what fans were expecting. The new game is a free-to-play mobile game titled EVE Galaxy Conquest that launched on October 29. The game is meant to expand the world of EVE Online, CCP Games' massive, long-running sci-fi MMO, but it's being met with criticism and negative reviews, instead.
A release trailer has been revealed on the EVE Galaxy Conquest YouTube channel to an abysmal view count of under 10K in a week. In contrast, MMO Population reports that there are over 10.58 million accounts in the game, with an estimated 59K players per day over the past month. EVE fans are largely blasting the new mobile game and criticizing CCP Games for not taking their time to make a good companion game for their IP.
In a comment on the release trailer, YouTube user mushetti3166 writes "Well a big 'NO THANK YOU' another EVE trash game money cash grab. Shame on you developers." Redditor Keydet echoes this sentiment in a Reddit thread decrying the mobile game's apparent overuse of AI-generated art and assets, saying that "It’s almost funny how little effort they put into this amalgamation of AI slop" and calling the entire game a "dumpster fire."
