Netflix just unveiled its big anime slate for 2026 and beyond, and it’s giving Crunchyroll a run for its money. While Netflix was once regarded as a terrible place for anime due to its batch releases and not streaming anime until months after they aired in Japan, between getting better at simulcasting and greatly expanding its library of new and classic hits, it’s since become one of the best places for anime, and that transformation has been incredible to watch.
Netflix has truly become a great place for anime, and 2026 and beyond will be even better. At the 2026 Annecy Animation Film Festival, Netflix unveiled its new slate of anime streaming in 2026 and beyond, and sure enough, it’s filled to the brim with one gorgeous project after another. This is the best lineup of anime Netflix has had in ages, and above all else, it shows that Crunchyroll’s time on top is coming to an end.
