PREVIOUSLY, SEPTEMBER 24: Take a Banana for the Ride, the one-man show marking the Broadway debut of “Roastmaster General” Jeff Ross, will be coming to Netflix next year, at a date still to be determined.

A pair of tapings for the Netflix presentation will take place at the Nederlander Theater in New York on Saturday, September 27, one at 3 p.m. and one at 7:30 p.m. News of the Netflix deal comes following Ross’ performance of the show at Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever as part of Netflix Is a Joke Fest in May 2024.

Wrapping up an eight-week limited engagement on September 29, Take a Banana for the Ride is said to show a different side to Ross, as a more personal and heartfelt performance that combines comedy, autobiographical storytelling, and musical elements. The show is about celebrating life, honoring loss, and being prepared for life’s unexpected events.

In a statement earlier this year, Ross said it was “designed to be a cathartic experience shared with others,” encouraging fans “to bring friends that you care about, people that might be going through tough times. I will shake them out of it with an evening of uncensored jokes, uplifting stories, songs and even some live roasting of the bravest volunteers.”

Ross noted that he’d been daydreaming about performing his own “classy and uncensored one-man show” ever since he was young. Previews began August 5, with the show officially opening on August 18.

The show was directed on Broadway by Stephen Kessler, with creative consultation by Jeff Calhoun, and dramaturgy by Seth Barrish. Eric Nederlander, Robert Nederlander Jr., Marc Cornstein, and Tony Eisenberg produced, with ShowTown Productions serving as executive producer.

An Emmy-nominated comedian, Ross has ample history with Netflix, between the recent smash hit Roast of Tom Brady, which he co-hosted, last year’s Torching 2024: A Roast of the Year, Historical Roasts, Bumping Mics with Jeff Ross & Dave Attell, and other projects.

Dubbed “The Roastmaster General,” given his history as a central figure in the art of celebrity roasts for multiple decades, Ross is repped by WME and Sugar23.
