Her dissertation on the impact of streaming on traditional cinema sharpened her focus on the ever-evolving world of film and media. With 10 years in the industry, Rianna continues to cover the stories she loves while also advocating for awareness and representation of rare disabilities, such as Moebius Syndrome, which she lives with.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson's breakout role is getting a makeover.

Taylor-Johnson is a British actor who began his career at the age of six before landing roles in some major Hollywood blockbusters. His first role was in the 2003 movie Shanghai Knights, followed by titles such as Nowhere Boy and Kick-Ass. As the actor got older and developed his abilities, he transitioned into major features such as the MCU's Avengers: Age of Ultron and won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in Nocturnal Animals. However, one role is often credited as the actor's breakthrough.

Netflix is reviving a much-beloved franchise. Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging has received a pilot order from the streaming giant after reports surfaced following casting calls for the new adaptation. The series is based on the young adult novels written by Louise Rennison, and will be the second adaptation of the books following the 2008 movie featuring Taylor-Johnson in a role that propelled the actor to stardom.

Fourteen-year-old Georgia Nicolson is convinced that being a teenager is the most complicated—and unfair—thing imaginable. While desperately trying to improve her appearance, survive school, and maintain her status among her friends, Georgia becomes obsessed with the arrival of a handsome new boy, Robbie, whom she immediately decides is the love of her life.

Unfortunately, Robbie seems far more interested in other girls than in Georgia. As Georgia schemes to win him over, she navigates jealous friends, embarrassing family members, disastrous dates, school gossip, and her own tendency to turn every minor crisis into a catastrophe. Her attempts to appear sophisticated frequently backfire, leaving her caught between childish insecurities and an increasingly adult desire for romance and independence.

The original adaptation starred Taylor-Johnson as the swoon-worthy love interest alongside Georgia Groome, Georgia Henshaw, Manjeeven Grewal, Alan Davies, Eleanor Tomlinson, and Kimberley Nixon. The screenplay was written by Bend It Like Beckham's Gurinder Chadha and was a quiet success that grew into a cult classic. Netflix's adaptation is being written by Monica Heisey, with Jim O’Hanlon (known for Fackham Hall) directing.

Nearly two decades after its release, Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging will arrive on the smaller screen. UK casting director Rachel Sheridan, known for Amandaland and One Day, released a casting call seeking new and fresh talent for Netflix's adaptation. What came of that was a huge social media buzz as many expressed interest, but it was shortly closed as there were far too many submissions.

The requirements included asking for all applicants to be over 18 due to its mature themes and working hours. Sheridan released a statement following the overwhelming response:

"We have been genuinely overwhelmed (in the best way) by how many of you have applied… Because we have now received so many brilliant submissions, we sadly have to close applications earlier than planned, so we can give everyone who has already applied the time and attention they deserve."

At the time of writing, it's unclear when Netflix's adaptation of Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging will arrive, but fans are more than ready to return to the cult classic.
