Everything is copacetic on the set of Nobody Wants This.
The hit Netflix series starring Adam Brody and Kristen Bell recently returned for its third season following the developing relationship between podcaster Joanne Williams and Rabbi Noah Roklov. Much of the tension in their relationship derives from the fact that Joanne is not Jewish, a point of contention with Noah's family. But real-life tensions have been the subject of headlines as of late after Brody told GQ, "Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide. Put me down as wanting a free Palestine.” This prompted responses of disagreement from his costar Tovah Feldshuh and creator and showrunner Erin Foster.
Now, in a post on Threads, Feldshuh clarified, "Tensions are NOT RISING," before continuing, "Profound differences of opinion are. Please do not conflate the two — And none of it will be brought to the set. I deeply enjoy filming NWT and hope we are chosen to go on for a fourth season."
This post comes after Feldshuh responded to Brody's comments in the New York Post, saying, "To accuse the Jewish people of genocide is wild. It's right out of Hitler's playbook. You take the victim and you make the victim the perpetrator." In Nobody Wants This, Feldshuh plays Bina, the mother of Brody's Rabbi Noah, whose disapproval over his relationship with Joanne is the driving force of the plot early on in the series.
Feldshuh isn't the only one who expressed disagreement with Brody. On the Not Skinny But Not Fat Podcast, Foster also responded to Brody's comments: “You know, it’s complicated. I think our work environment, our set, is very similar to dinner tables around the world, where people are having debate and discussion and disagreeing. And while I love Adam, I also disagree with him, and that’s okay.”
In addition to Bell, Brody, and Feldshuh, Nobody Wants This stars Justine Lupe as Joanne's sister Morgan, Timothy Simons as Sasha, Noah's older brother, and Jackie Tohn as Sasha's wife Esther. The supporting cast includes Stephanie Faracy, Paul Ben-Victor, Michael Hitchcock, Emily Arlook, and Sherry Cola. Notable guest stars for season 3 include Sarah Silverman, Andrew Rannells, Steven Weber, and Avan Jogia.
Nobody Wants This premiered in 2024 to critical acclaim. The first season received a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and though its sophomore season dipped to 80%, season 3 once again returned to relative acclaim with a 90% score. The show has been nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series twice at the Primetime Emmys, for its first and second seasons, and a nomination for its third seems likely.

Nobody Wants This is currently one of the most popular shows on Netflix in the US, sitting in the third position on the streamer's top 10 chart. It seems likely that the show will be renewed for a fourth season given the nature of its story lends itself to lower production costs. Netflix usually waits a few weeks before deciding on renewals or cancellations, so it could be some time before the fate of Nobody Wants This is decided, but it seems like the cast will be focusing on the work regardless.
