Netflix’s New 6-Part Action Thriller Is Too Good To Miss for ‘The Night Agent’ Fans

Season 3 of The Night Agent might have wrapped up in early 2026, but there's trouble brewing across the Atlantic. While waiting for The Night Agent Season 4 — currently underway and confirmed to be the show's final installment — Netflix's six-episode action-thriller series Elite Force is the perfect substitute. While the U.S. has the FBI Hostage Rescue Team (HRT), France has the GIGN, whose job is to protect the country from terrorist threats and keep national security in check.

But when the GIGN itself gets attacked right at its home base, who's to say France is in safe hands? The incident forces the elite unit to learn who's behind it while navigating threats from both inside and outside the organization. With six episodes packed with action, dangerous missions, and complicated family secrets, Elite Force has more than enough to fill the void until The Night Agent returns one last time.

What Is 'Elite Force' About?

Elite Force follows two main characters: David Caron (Tomer Sisley), a senior officer in the GIGN's tactical police division, and Max (Tristan Zanchi), his 25-year-old godson. David is ready to retire from the GIGN and finally spend more time with his family after years of putting the job first, but that plan changes when Max displays interest in becoming an officer himself.

After promising Max's mother that he won't let her son join the force, David makes Max's admission exams and tests as difficult as possible, giving him an even tougher time than the other recruits. Unfortunately for David, Max turns out to be a natural, and eventually gets assigned to David's division, so David decides not to retire to keep an eye on Max. While Max and his new teammates are celebrating their recruitment, the unit's headquarters are targeted when a bomb explodes in the parking lot, injuring David, Max, and David's colleague, Christophe (Thierry Neuvic).

'Elite Force' Is Literally Even More Explosive Than 'The Night Agent'

Those who can't get enough of The Night Agent will find the same thrills while watching Elite Force. The series' entire storyline revolves not just around tracking down the missing military-grade CL-20 bombs used to attack the GIGN headquarters, but also trying to stay one step ahead of the ones who planned the attack in the first place. The Night Agent begins with the bombing of a D.C. Metro station, which Peter (Gabriel Basso) manages to detect early enough to prevent the backpack bomb from killing everyone on the train. A year later, Peter's main job revolves around protecting young tech entrepreneur Rose (Luciane Buchanan) from assassins, but he soon realizes the Metro bombing may involve whoever is targeting her, too.

In Elite Force, however, the bombings are even more frequent, deadlier, and high-stakes. The GIGN has to defuse bombs in increasingly difficult situations, whether they're talking down someone holding a trigger-activated bomb on a high-traffic road or trying to defuse one in a hospital without their main bomb expert on hand. Meanwhile, the biggest threat comes from inside the organization. Elite Force swaps The Night Agent's greater political conspiracy for a revenge plot against David, though the show's threat similarly connects to a past bombing that both fuels David's present-day guilt and explains why he is so protective of Max.

'Elite Force' Also Has a Complicated Family Mystery

Missing bombs aren't the only threat in Elite Force. Just like Peter in The Night Agent, whose father dies under suspicious circumstances after being accused of being a state traitor, Max also believes there's more to his father's death. For context, David and Laurent were partners in the GIGN years before Max joined the force, but when a bomb-defusing and hostage-rescue operation went horribly wrong, Laurent died — which naturally makes Max suspicious of the circumstances leading up to the event, and whether it was actually an accident.

Just as Peter spends The Night Agent trying to uncover the truth about his father's past, Max becomes determined to figure out what really happened to Laurent. The more he digs, the more he starts to suspect David, which makes things even more complicated, since David is now Max's superior. At first, David and Max make an effective duo despite Max being new to the force — but even as David tries to hide the past, Max pushes him for answers. Eventually, Max's search for the truth changes their entire relationship as the show heads toward its finale. Although Season 2 hasn't been confirmed yet, Elite Force's six episodes have plenty of tactical action, family drama, and surprising plot twists to satisfy The Night Agent fans waiting for the final season.
