You may be gearing up to return to the Ton when Bridgerton Season 4, Part 2 releases on Thursday, but before that, Netflix is taking Regency fans back to the original Regency romance writer, Jane Austen. Later this year, Netflix will release a limited series adaptation of her novel, Pride & Prejudice. Today, Netflix released a teaser to give fans their first taste of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy.
The tension-filled teaser returned fans to the yearning and longing that makes for the perfect Austen adaptation. The limited series stars Emma Corrin (Nosferatu, Black Mirror) as Elizabeth Bennet and Jack Lowden (Slow Horses, Benediction) as Mr Darcy. Other cast include: Olivia Colman (The Favourite, The Crown), Rufus Sewell (The Diplomat, Scoop), Freya Mavor (Industry, La Dame Dans L’Auto), Jamie Demetriou (Stath Lets Flats, Barbie), Daryl McCormack (Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery; Good Luck to You, Leo Grande), Louis Partridge, Rhea Norwood (Heartstopper, Cabaret), Siena Kelly (Black Mirror, Domino Day), Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows), Hopey Parish, and Hollie Avery.
What Other 'Pride and Prejudice' Adaptations Have There Been?
Two other Pride and Prejudice adaptations stand out in recent memory to many who will be tuning into this latest iteration. The first is the BBC miniseries from 1995 that starred Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle as Elizabeth Bennet. The adaptation gave fans one of the most iconic pieces of Regency media in the lake scene with Colin Firth's Darcy. The other came 20 years later, with the film, Pride and Prejudice, in 2005, starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfayden as Lizzie Bennet and Mr. Darcy. Both are beloved by many fans in their own ways. Writer and Executive Producer of the 2026 Pride and Prejudice limited series, Dolly Alderton says of adapting the material once again:
"Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it. Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is the blueprint for romantic comedy – it has been a joy to delve back into its pages to find both familiar and fresh ways of bringing this beloved book to life. With Euros Lyn directing our stellar cast, I am so excited to reintroduce these hilarious and complicated characters to those who count Pride and Prejudice as their favourite book, and those who are yet to meet their Lizzie and Mr Darcy."
Pride and Prejudice premieres later this year on Netflix. Watch the teaser above. Stay with Collider for the latest updates.
