Growing up around performers, storytelling was always central to Emma's life. Add in a nerdy older brother who introduced her to Marvel at far too young an age, and her love for entertainment led her to pursue a Journalism degree at Indiana University, where she discovered her passion for entertainment reporting. She spent nearly one year in Los Angeles covering industry stories and fully immersing herself in the world of entertainment media.
Netflix's My Life with the Walter Boys won't delay the drama for season 4.
Based on Ali Novak’s 2014 novel, the young adult drama follows Jackie Howard (Nikki Rodriguez), who moves from New York to rural Colorado following a family tragedy. While adjusting to life with the large Walter family, Jackie becomes caught in a love triangle involving brothers Alex (Ashby Gentry) and Cole (Noah LaLonde). Netflix previously confirmed My Life with the Walter Boys season 4.
A day before its season 3 premiere, Netflix confirmed that filming is underway in Calgary and that season 4 is slated for a 2027 release. On X, the streamer also posted that “Walter Boys S3? TOMORROW. Walter Boys S4? NOW IN PRODUCTION,” with a photo of Rodriguez, Gentry, and LaLonde.
The quick turnaround follows the drama’s strong performance across its first two seasons. Season 1 reached No. 1 in 50 countries, while season 2 entered the Top 10 in 85 countries. Together, both seasons spent 15 weeks in Netflix’s Global Top 10 streaming charts and earned more than 130 million views through the end of 2025.
Season 4’s quick progress also aligns with showrunner Melanie Halsall’s previous comments about the series’ future. She revealed that she had “mapped this out a long way down the line” and hoped to continue telling these stories as My Life with the Walter Boys characters grew older.
Production is also moving fast to avoid major yearly gaps between seasons. This comes as Netflix has experienced viewership dips after subsequent seasons, since a long wait may test audiences' patience to revisit a series. Thankfully, My Life with the Walter Boys has had consistent filming schedules, especially with recent installments.
Season 1 premiered in December 2023, while season 2 did not arrive until August 2025. Season 3 is debuting almost exactly one year after season 2, and Netflix has already slated season 4 for 2027. Although an exact release date has not been announced, beginning production now could maintain the show’s roughly annual release pattern.
Story details are similarly being kept under wraps. The third installment must first address the ending of My Life with the Walter Boys season 2, including Jackie finally confessing her love for Cole, Alex overhearing the confession, and an emergency for George. How the new season resolves those developments will likely determine which conflicts carry into season 4.
Halsall has confirmed to Netflix that the series will not move away from the romance and love triangles at its core, promising “much, much more of that to come in Season 4.” However, it remains unclear whether that will involve Jackie’s current love triangle with Cole and Alex or introduce a new romantic conflict.
With season 4 already in production, there is some relief for viewers that Jackie and the Walter family’s story will continue, and the wait won't last long for the next set of episodes. That is particularly reassuring for a drama known for ending its seasons with romantic revelations and major cliffhangers.
My Life with the Walter Boys season 3 premieres Thursday, August 6, on Netflix. Season 4 is officially in production and slated for release in 2027.
