A rock biopic nearly hitting the $1 billion mark while splitting critics is the definition of a divisive hit, and now it’s coming to Netflix. The movie is designed for replay value. It compresses years into clean beats, keeps the drama readable, and spends its real-time budget on the concert material because that’s what audiences actually rewatch. The result is simple: critics push back on the smoothing-over, but viewers hit play for the two-hour crowd pleaser.

The numbers explain why this one still draws debate years later. Rotten Tomatoes has it at 60% critics versus an 85% audience score, a wide gap that mirrors the messy movie's massive crowd-pleaser reputation. And despite nearly being the key word here, the theatrical haul was still enormous: $910.8M worldwide on an estimated $52M production budget, which is an absurd multiplier for any adult-leaning studio drama.

The film is Bohemian Rhapsody, and Netflix US is set to add it on April 1, 2026, perfect timing play for anyone who wants a buzzy, two-hour crowd-pleaser that feels like an event even at home. Other than Netflix, Bohemian Rhapsody is primarily available to stream on Disney+.

What Else Is Coming to Netflix in April 2026

Netflix US is shaping up April as a big returns, event programming, and blockbuster swings month. The early schedule is anchored by major series drops: St. Denis Medical Season 1 lands April 1, giving sitcom bingers an 18-episode starter season, while XO, Kitty Season 3 arrives April 2 for YA romance momentum. Meanwhile, Netflix is also stacking prestige and tentpoles mid-month: Beef Season 2 premieres April 16, and then the month pivots into franchise-scale hype with Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 on April 23, Apex starring Charlize Theron on April 24, and Bugonia starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons and directed by Yorgos Lanthimos on April 26.

For live events, Netflix has Tyson Fury vs. Arslanbek Makhmudov streaming on April 11. And the lineup stays padded with recognizable library adds like Bohemian Rhapsody and Madagascar early in the month.

Bohemian Rhapsody will be available to stream on Netflix starting April 1. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
