EXCLUSIVE: True North, Nathan Kahane‘s newly launched film production and finance company founded with backing from Entertainment 360 and its investor, The Carlyle Group, has announced its first executive appointments: Sam Greenberg as Senior Vice President of Production and Jack Lindsey as Director of Development.

Both will report to Kahane and will play key roles in building out the company’s feature slate.

Greenberg now heads the company’s creative efforts, overseeing the development and production of its slate, including such projects in post-production as Karoshi starring Teo Yoo, Cynthia Erivo, and Giancarlo Esposito, and Day Drinker starring Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, and Madelyn Cline. Lindsey will support Kahane and Greenberg in day-to-day operations, helping coordinate projects across development and production.

Both appointees have history with Kahane. Greenberg began his career working for him at Good Universe, first as an intern and then as an assistant, before joining him at Lionsgate during his tenure as President of the Motion Picture Group. Lindsey, meanwhile, formerly worked at Lionsgate as a Film Development & Production Coordinator.

“Sam and Jack are exactly the kind of executives we want building this company,” Kahane told Deadline. “They are thoughtful, sharp, deeply collaborative, and have exceptional taste. Just as importantly, they understand how to support filmmakers at every stage of the process. True North is built on long-term creative partnerships, and both of them embody that ethos.”

Most recently serving as SVP of Production at Team Downey, where he oversaw a range of studio features, Greenberg followed up his time at Good Universe with exec roles at Wrigley Pictures and MGM Studios. A producer on David Mikalson’s Goblin at A24, he held a consulting role at Lionsgate prior to reuniting with Kahane at True North.

“I’ve had the privilege of working with Nathan at multiple points in my career, and there’s no one I trust more when it comes to championing filmmakers,” Greenberg said. “True North is built to back bold creative voices in a meaningful way, and I’m excited to help bring that vision to life.”

Lindsey most recently served as Manager of Film Creative at Fifth Season, where he helped shape and develop the company’s feature slate. Prior to that, he worked directly under Kahane at Lionsgate, after beginning his career in the Motion Picture Talent department at UTA.

He told us, “It’s rare to have the opportunity to build something from the ground up alongside people you deeply respect. True North’s focus on filmmaker-first storytelling and long-term partnerships is exactly the kind of environment I’m excited to be part of.”

Kahane founded True North following his exit from Lionsgate to develop, finance, and produce distinctive features in partnership with leading and emerging filmmakers. The company is focused on building a sustainable slate of event-level projects grounded in strong creative relationships — projects that fall outside traditional studio mandates but are nonetheless commercially viable. We were first to report on both Kahane’s departure from Lionsgate, as well as the launch of True North in January.
