Naruto's Rasengan will never be the same again after Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. This upcoming anime follows up Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, and Boruto: Naruto Next Generation, effectively carrying the story of Konoha forward in accordance with the manga created by Mikio Ikemoto and Masashi Kishimoto. As the next installment in the overall story, it's naturally important that Two Blue Vortex kick up the intensity. Based on the characters' development in the manga series, we won't be disappointed.
Part of the trouble with Boruto: Naruto Next Generation is that the new legacy characters weren't nearly as strong as Naruto and his peers. The strongest displays of power still came from these individuals, while Boruto and his generation struggled to stand out in their own series. Boruto: Two Blue Vortex won't have this issue. These younger characters have developed significant strength, so Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura can finally step aside and let the next generation run the show. In the case of Boruto himself, that means introducing the Rasengan Uzuhiko technique.
Just as Naruto developed several variations of his signature Rasengan, his son, Boruto, officially adds his own to the mix. While essentially in exile, Boruto sets to work coming up with a Rasengan that will be a more significant threat to the Ōtsutsuki clan. To do so, he uses the planet's own chakra. He absorbs through his feet the energy produced by the centrifugal force of the rotating planet and passes the force on through contact with an opponent. Boruto's victim then becomes intensely disoriented, unable to move or attack while continuously taking devastating damage.
Naruto's Rasengan Evolution Explained
It's fitting that Boruto would develop the most powerful Rasengan variation yet, since this technique is a family legacy. The original Rasengan was created by Naruto's father, the Fourth Hokage, Minato. Naruto later learned the technique (before he knew Minato was his father), and immediately began putting his own spin on things (pun intended). He infused the Rasengan with his Wind Nature to establish the Rasenchuriken, which annihilates at a molecular level.
As Naruto continued to develop his abilities in Naruto Shippuden, he created some even more powerful Rasengan techniques. He combined the shape transformation and Wind Nature with the Nine-Tails chakra while utilizing Sage Mode to pull off Planet Rasengan, Tailed Beast Rasengan, and Super Tailed Beast Rasenshuriken, all of which are entirely devastating.
It really didn't seem that Boruto could have much more to contribute to his grandfather and father's Rasengan. However, he accidentally developed the Vanishing Rasengan by adding Lightning Release to the technique. The smaller Compressed Rasengan followed this. After three years of development (the same amount of time it took for Minato to develop the original Rasengan), Boruto mastered the Rasengan Uzuhiko.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex's Power Scale Is Headed Off The Charts
Like any good shonen, Naruto has come far in the way of power scaling. Shippuden ended with the forces of good facing off against a god-level alien, so Boruto naturally had to take things even bigger. Headed into Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, the broader Ōtsutsuki class has become a more prevalent force. These are planet-threatening villains, so it naturally takes the power of the planet itself to fight them off. That's where Boruto's Rasengan Uzuhiko comes in, but this drastic increase in power comes with a variety of problems.
Rasengan Uzuhiko is just another OP Naruto technique, but this one in particular will be difficult to outdo. Power scaling frequently becomes an issue in these types of anime because, without a real ceiling, the concepts of strength and development lose their meaning. Boruto and his new technique should emerge fairly early on in the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex anime, so where can the series really go from there?
