Sometimes, I can't believe that Naruto started in 1999. The original manga took a while to really pick up steam in popularity, but when 2002 hit and the anime aired, the rest was history.

I remember just about every anime fan I knew who partook in shonen stories jumping on board with Naruto, just as they had with One Piece and Dragon Ball Z. It's become a massive pillar in the anime community, and you'd be hard-pressed to go to a convention and not see at least one Naruto headband, if not tons of cosplay and homages. While Boruto continues the gang's adventures, Naruto himself pops up constantly.

Now, Naruto is poised to return in a pretty big way later this year. You truly can't keep this story down.

Later this year, the Naruto Mythos TCG will be launching its third set, titled Akatsuki. This is also coinciding with the global launch of the game, which will expand beyond the UK, Europe, and Turkey, adding the USA, Canada, Latin America, Australia, and South Africa to the distribution pipeline.

While the official release is scheduled for "early 2027," a listing from Unicorn Cards suggests it could ship as early as November. However, Bandai Namco says the Naruto Mythos TCG will have global parity with Set 3, while Set 2 will not have a simul-release globally. The UK and Europe just had their official release for Set 2, and special packs/team sets will be exclusive to the UK and Europe.

New territories will get only Booster Displays, without the full product suite. While collectors and dedicated fans won't be happy at the lack of product, at the very least, fans can get started with the game and make some decks, potentially kicking off Organized Play hubs.

Speaking of Organized Play, if you're a hardcore player, you'll want to note a major announcement from Bandai Namco on the future of the program, and its expansion:

"Approved Organized Play hobby stores in the United States will have the opportunity to receive Set 1 – 2nd Edition in very limited quantities. Only Booster Displays will be available, so make sure to check with your local hobby store and encourage them to join our Organized Play program. We will continue working toward bringing with next edition of Set 1 to additional territories as well. Demand for NARUTO Mythos TCG continues to grow every single month, and we are working extremely hard to increase production so more players around the world can finally join the game. We cannot wait to see players everywhere experience the NARUTO Mythos TCG universe together."

In a twist of fate, another Naruto card game is also coming in 2027, so it should be an interesting time for Naruto fanslooking for the next thing to try. Eventually, there could be two options, assuming the Mythos TCG continues.
