Myleene Klass admits she's 'dragging her heels' on getting married to partner Simon Motson as she pokes fun at their five year engagement

Myleene Klass has said there is no wedding on the horizon, despite being engaged to her partner Simon Motson for over five years.

The TV and radio star, 47, has been with PR guru Simon, 49, for eleven years and he popped the question in August 2020 with a 7.6 carat black diamond. 

But in a new interview Myleene poked fun at their years-long engagement before admitting there is no sign of wedding of bells.  

'I don't know what the longest engagement in the history of the world is, but this could be it,' she quipped. 'We've all been dragging our heels with it, haven't we?' 

Myleene and Simon share son Apollo, six, whilst she is also mum to daughters Ava, 18, and Hero, 14, who she raised by herself after splitting from their father, bodyguard Graham Quinn in 2013. 

She admitted that her daughters are desperate to see her walk down the aisle again. 

'Hero will be really happy you asked that [about marriage], because she's always asking me the same thing,' she told Hello!

When asked if the wedding will be this year, an unsure Myleene replied: 'Maybe, I don't know.'

'I think it's probably because I get the opportunity to dress up all the time and have these lovely concerts and things – so maybe it would have to be a ceremony with a bit of a difference.'

Myleene and her ex Graham were together for 12 years until Graham walked out on her on her birthday in 2013, just six months after their wedding day. 

She raised her girls as a single mother until she met Simon in 2015.

Speaking last year, the star noted that having the freedom to make choices for her children without the input of a partner 'empowered' her, as she told how 'proud' she was to be both mother and father to her girls.

Myleene also compared her experience to her other friends and also her fiancé Simon, who himself has a son, 17 and a daughter, 13 from his previous relationship with Anna Walton.

She wrote a lengthy message about her situation alongside a video from a recent appearance on Loose Women in which she praised her partner and spoke her requirements when entering into the relationship as a single mother.

She penned: 'Dating as a single mum is HARD. You have responsibilities to your children as well as to yourself.

'I admit, I have the privilege of raising my children 'alone', and that having financial independence has removed many burdens as my choices are my own and I can solely steer my children where I and they feel is right for them, which has empowered me and my girls.

'In fact, being both 'mum and dad' to my daughters is my proudest achievement. It's scary, but sometimes doing it alone is surprisingly easier.'

Myleene then went on to compare her own experience to other people in her life who no doubt had to consult their former partners about child related decisions, before discussing the rise in blended families.

She said: 'Many of my co parenting friends have different experiences of this including my fiancé, but blended families are the biggest, fastest growing set up and whilst blending them can have challenges, acknowledging the 2.4 nuclear unit no longer exists and this is the shape for many to come, makes it feel less of a stigma and something to navigate and thrive in.'

Going on to praise all step-parents, including her own fiancé, Myleene concluded: 'To the 'Steps' that 'step up' everyday and show little eyes that are loved and adored, thank you.
