There's just one game that I've played for more than 300 hours this year: Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
Does the latest entry in this long-running first-person shooter (FPS) series have its issues? Yes, especially if you want to play a traditional single-player campaign, but the excellence of its multiplayer matches is simply undeniable.
I worked it out, and at this price I would be paying just under 7p per hour of entertainment that I've had — a fraction of what it would cost to go to the cinema or enjoy a restaurant meal instead.

I reviewed Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and awarded it a score of three and a half stars. Although I have my fair share of problems with the campaign, which is this weird co-op experience with a sloppy plot that's nothing like the cinematic excellence you would expect from the blockbuster franchise, I had nothing but praise for the multiplayer.
"Building on the incredibly strong foundations laid with Black Ops 6, this is comfortably one of the most engaging multiplayer offerings yet," I wrote. "The maps, a bit of a weak point last year, are all absolutely fantastic, and there are loads of them to master. The ones set in Japan in particular look simply stunning, with gorgeous details and impressive lighting that conveys a brilliant atmosphere."
The included zombies mode is also brilliant, with massive maps that reward exploration.
Better still, if you pick up the game now, you'll get it just in time for the launch of Season 3 — the next batch of live-service content. It's promising new weapons, modes, events, and more to keep you busy for the weeks ahead.
