My Hero Academia season 7 ran from May 4, 2024, to October 12, 2024, and covered the Star and Stripe arc, the UA Traitor arc, and the

beginning of the Final War arc. Season 8 should pick up exactly where season 7 left off, and will cover from that point to the end of the manga, which includes some epilogue content as well. Season 8 was announced shortly after the season 7 finale, although little information was known until the Jump Festa event in December 2024.

On October 12, 2024, following the debut of the season 7 finale, season 8 of My Hero Academia was announced, although no details were revealed other than that it was being produced. On December 21, 2024, at the Jump Festa event in Japan, My Hero Academia's final season was confirmed to begin airing in the Fall of 2025. Like the rest of the series, it is being animated by Bones. It was also announced at this event that a My Hero Academia spinoff anime, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, would be debuting in April 2025, which should help tide fans over until season 8 begins airing.

The Story of My Hero Academia Season 8

My Hero Academia Season 8's Story Wraps Up the Series

The bulk of season 8 of My Hero Academia will be the end of the Final War arc, seeing the confrontation between Midoriya and Shigaraki come to a head. There are still other villains out there who need to be defeated as well, such as All for One, who was last seen carving a warpath towards Shigaraki while rapidly growing younger from each strike he suffered. All for One's rampage was stopped by the newly armored All Might, using a mechanical exoskeleton to fight the villain without a Quirk. All Might and All for One's battle was left unfinished in season 7, so it's likely to be the first thing fans see in season 8.

Season 8 will also cover the epilogue arc, all the content which takes place after the end of the fighting. The epilogue helps to tie up loose ends of the story and show what becomes of the surviving heroes as they take their first steps into a new post-war world. This will likely include the bonus chapter 431, an extra chapter that was published in the final volume of My Hero Academia showing what the former Class 1-A are up to in the distant future.

The Setting of My Hero Academia Season 8

My Hero Academia's Final Battle Takes Place in the Shadow of Mount Fuji

Deku confronts Shigaraki in the wastes.

My Hero Academia season 8's setting is much the same as season 7, since the events will be picking up right where the previous season left off. That means the heroes are scattered across many different areas, doing battle with villains who were specially separated out using Kurogiri's Warp Quirk. Most of the villains have been defeated already, with most of the focus set to be on the battle with Shigaraki. Shigaraki and Deku are currently battling it out in the air, as Deku desperately tries to prevent the villain from Decaying the very earth beneath them.

Shigaraki and Deku will end up in an interesting location, though, as their battle takes them to the foot of Mount Fuji. With such a tremendous landmark as a final battle site, fans can expect some amazing twists and turns to the battle.

The Characters of My Hero Academia Season 8

My Hero Academia Season 8 Will Introduce a Few New Characters

Deku uses his analytical mind to evaluate Dai's Quirk.

Since the final season will cover the Final War arc, fans can expect the focus will mostly remain with characters that they know and love as they battle for the fate of the world. Fans can expect to learn more about All for One and Shigaraki, and the way that these two villains are connected, which goes far deeper than it originally appeared. Aside from All for One and Shigaraki, fans can expect to see heroes facing off with the villain Kunieda, a Tartarus escapee and serial killer. Stain remains lurking on the sidelines as well, and could jump in at any time, but which side will he support?

The epilogue arc will introduce a few new characters right before the end, mostly in the form of new students at UA. There is also a mysterious new character with a villainous look, who is seen wandering through dark tunnels. Could this be the next Shigaraki in the making? Will the peace everyone has fought so hard for last, or will a new villain rise in their place? The epilogue arc also introduces an aspiring UA student, Dai, who needs a little guidance on what to do with his life. These new characters help to underline the themes of the series, and show how things change going forward.

As noted above, a release window of Fall 2025 for My Hero Academia season 8 was announced at Jump Festa in December 2024. Most fans expect a release in October 2025 specifically, although this has not yet been confirmed. It's likely My Hero Academia season 8 will begin airing shortly after My Hero Academia: Vigilantes ends its first season, which should roughly align with the expected October release. Most fans also expect season 8 to be shorter than previous seasons, due to the amount of manga content remaining to adapt. As a result, season 8 could be as few as 13 episodes, although this, too, has yet to be officially confirmed.
