When I tried out the JBL Tour One M2 in 2023, I wrote that video gamers and desk job workers would reap the benefits of these headphones. Now, we can add frequent flyers to that list. The audio company just announced the newest generation, the Tour One M3, and, along with the regular upgrades, it's also got a new travel-friendly feature.
The JBL Tour One M3 headphones include the JBL Smart Tx, a touch screen, wireless audio transmitter that people can use to connect to inflight entertainment systems on airplanes – or any analog audio system that requires a cord connection. JBL says that the audio transmitter connection in the Smart Tx improves latency, stability, and call quality.

That means you don't need to ask the flight attendant for those cheap earbuds that don't stick in your ears to watch The Holdovers on your next cross-country flight; you can use the headphones you brought along instead. According to the press release, users will have "full control" over the headphone features through the Smart Tx transmitter and can manage music playback, call management, audio settings, and broadcast sources to Auracast-enabled devices.
JBL also introduced next-generation proprietary spatial audio to the Tour One M3 for an immersive listening experience through head-tracking technology. Users will be able to move their heads and feel the audio follow their movements.
The headphones boast a 70-hour battery life to power through an entire week's worth of listening. Additionally, users can access lossless audio over a 3.5mm and USB-C audio port.
The Tour One M3 will be available for $399 on April 13 in three colorways: Black, Mocha, and Blue.
