Moonlighter dev's next haunt is ReVamp, a tower defence roguelike where Dracula is cursed to defend his castle forever

The devs behind Moonlighter are already back with something new. While they're still tinkering away with the early access release of Moonlighter 2, at the Future Games Show Spring Showcase they revealed another roguelike entirely: ReVamp, a tower defence spin on the genre that pits you as Dracula himself protecting his castle.

Now, you might be wondering why Dracula is stuck having to defend his castle. That's because he's been cursed by Achlys, goddess of the night, forcing him (and subsequently you) to face endless waves of mortals every night. Rather than Dracula himself fending off his foes, you can place various monsters, beasties, skeletons and the like all with their own abilities and such.

The biggest twist on it all is that the castle itself is entirely modular. Between onslaughts, you can add in new rooms, move them around, and position them in ways that will best result in the deaths of your foes. The more mortals you kill, the more blood you get, which you can then re-invest into your castle to improve the various rooms at your disposal, all of which have their own unique effects that'll help you in the fight too.

Oh, and you can actually play as Dracula too! I'm not entirely sure if you control him yourself, but the game's Steam page suggests as much. Though, this is meant to be more of a last resort when "your legion wavers," so, it won't be the main way you'll spend your time. And much like in Hades, defeat isn't the end, as between cycles you can buy new chambers, unlock better and badder creatures, and "access deeper layers of strategic possibility."

It looks neat! But it's also probably a ways away as there's no release date in sight, not even a release year. So, in the meantime, you can wishlist it on Steam right here.
