Monica Bellucci looked effortlessly chic as she walked hand in hand with Tim Burton in Venice on Tuesday ahead of the city's annual Film Festival which begins on Wednesday.

The Italian actress, 59, looked effortlessly chic as she opted for a white blazer and trouser suit which she wore over a simple black blouse. 

Completing her look with some large black sunglasses and a matching white leather bag, the pair looked in great spirits as they waved from the boat ahead of Tim's Beetlejuice opening on Wednesday.

Meanwhile the American director and film producer, 66, looked to be embracing his inner rock star as he arrived in an all black suit, shirt and matching hat.

He accessorised his dapper appearance with some blue lens sunglasses and black suede trainers.

The couple have been to first met 16 years ago but are said to have started dating after seeing one another at the Lumière Film Festival in Lyon in October 2022. 

Monica confirmed their relationship in June of the following year as she told Elle France: 'What I can say... I'm glad I met the man, first of all.'

'It's one of those encounters that rarely happens in life... I know the man, I love him, and now I'm going to meet the director, another adventure begins.'

She added: 'I love Tim. And I have great respect for Tim Burton.' 

Monica is also starring in the new Beetlejuice film alongside Jenna Ortega, Micheal Keaton and Winona Ryder. 

Earlier on Tuesday, Jenna was also seen arriving in Venice as she wore a gorgeous a pleated miniskirt and checked blazer.

Her onscreen mother in the movie Winona Ryder, who reprises her role as Lydia, was also spotted arriving but hid her face under a visor hat.

Sigourney Weaver also arrived for the festival as she happily greeted fans, whilst looking chic in a pair of white wide-legged trousers and a boater hat.

Sigourney will receive the prestigious Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement award during the festival

Tim Burton's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will open the festival on August 28.

Jenna recently opened up about what it was like meeting Winona Ryder for the first time on the set of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

The Wednesday star, 21, plays Astrid Deetz, the daughter of Ryder's, 52, Lydia Deetz in the film. 

'She was so warm and welcoming and kind and inviting right from the jump, and I couldn't be more grateful,' Ortega explained in an interview with the New York Times.

'It was at a time where my career was taking a different turn, and I didn't realize that I needed that from somebody who could relate, but I did,' she said, adding that she was in a 'transformative' period in her life after shooting to overnight superstardom on Netflix's Wednesday.

'The way Winona and I got along was quite weird. It was like we were reading each other's minds a little bit,' she added.

Sigourney meanwhile will receive the prestigious Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement award during the festival.

Sigourney said ahead of receiving the prize: 'I am truly honored to receive the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement from La Biennale di Venezia.'

The 81st Venice International Film Festival is organised by La Biennale di Venezia and will be held on the Lido di Venezia from 28 August to 7 September 2024. 

As well as Sigourney and the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice cast there is an array of A-listers expected to descend on Venice over the coming days.

George Clooney is already in town, alongside his wife Amal, for the debut of his anticipated new movie Wolfs - the Jon Watts-directed heist thriller that reunites him with Oceans 11 co-star Brad Pitt.

Both George and Brad will be attendance at the September 1 screening. 

Jenna, who stars in the Beetlejuice sequel which will open the festival, looked gorgeous in a pleated miniskirt and checked blazer as she arrived

Brad's ex wife Angelina Jolie is also due in Venice to promote the film Maria, in which she plays opera legend Maria Callas.

Sources indicate that the schedules have been arranged so that the warring couple - who continue to be embroiled in legal action eight years after they split - will not be at the film festival at the same time. 

Another major screening is Joker: Folie à Deux on September 4. The premiere of the sequel will welcome stars Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga to the Venice red carpet.

Venice regulars Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton are in town for Pedro Almodóvar’s English-language debut The Room Next Door while Nicole Kidman is screening her erotic thriller Babygirl on August 30.

Pupi Avati's The American Backyard will close the festival on September 7.
