Actress Ariel Winter is mourning the loss of one of her beloved dogs, just three months after losing a different dog.

On Tuesday the 28-year-old former Modern Family star took to Instagram to announce her heartbreak in an emotional post.

She began her lengthy caption, 'It's taken me a bit for me to share this because I truly can't handle the fact that I've lost her.

'I haven't even wanted to talk about it with my therapist, let alone anyone else because it makes it real and then I can't avoid the pain, but she was loved by so many and I feel it's time.'

She described the brown and black dog as 'the love of my life, my best friend, my soul dog, my first rescue.'

Winter added that the pup was 'the one who ignited that purpose and passion within me.'

On Tuesday the 28-year-old former Modern Family star took to Instagram to announce her heartbreak in an emotional post

'My beautiful, sweet, special Chloe girl… crossed the rainbow bridge on the 6th,' she told her 5.1 million followers.

Ariel shared memories of her pet as she added, 'She passed peacefully in my arms while I told her how much I loved her, how much of a special girl she was and that it was okay…after the vet made her comfy and we spent some time together.'

The dog died following 'a very quick, aggressive form of cancer that typically only shows symptoms when it's too late.'

The grieving dog owner explained, 'She had just had her physical, dental, an extra check up because she just had a little BUMP that ended up being benign…everything and yet…'

Winter rescued Chloe in 2016 and said upon meeting her 'I felt a connection I'd never felt before and one I knew I never wanted to live without.'

'I know some people won't get it, and that's okay. We had a soul bond,' the actress insisted.

Elsewhere in the extensive note, which continued in the comments of the post, Winter wrote about her late dog: 'She was my shadow. Everywhere I went, she followed. Didn't matter if she had to curl up somewhere super uncozy, she'd do it just to make sure she could be with me.'

She even revealed, 'I always pictured her lying with me one day when I got pregnant, comforting me the way she always has and then protecting the baby after they were born— protecting things she loved was something she just did.'

Actress Olivia Munn expressed condolences in the comments, writing, 'I'm so so sorry Ariel ❤️❤️❤️.'

Renowned singer Gloria Estefan also commented, 'Sending you so much love…❤️.'

And PETA appeared to say, 'So deeply sorry for your loss. You gave Chloe a life full of love, and she will forever hold a special place in your heart. Her spirit and the joy you shared will always be remembered❤️.'

The post has so far collected more than 212,000 likes from supportive fans and friends.

Winter was similarly emotional when her white Samoyed canine, Casper, died last year.

At the time, she shared a collection of photos of the furry dog with her and longtime boyfriend Luke Benward.

The actress shared a carousel of photo memories, including a snapshot of her and the dog wearing matching pajamas during the holiday season

In addition to Casper and Chloe, the entertainer –  a dog lover and animal rights advocate – also cares for four other canines.

She and boyfriend Luke announced on social media that they had adopted a rescue, Cobey, back in 2020.

At the time, she wrote on Instagram: 'Thank you @TheLabelleFoundation for our special boy Cobey!!!!!!'

That same year she celebrated National Dog Day with a fun post, writing to her followers, 'TELL YOUR DOGS WE SAID HI!!!!!!!!!!! Happy #nationaldogday from me + the furbabies.'

Posing with her pack of pups she encouraged, 'Life is ruff right now so...GO ADOPT YOUR FUTURE BEST FRIEND & GET TO CUDDLING.'
