Eric Stonestreet and his wife Lindsay Schweitzer were two of the lucky thousand guests to attend Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's lavish July 3rd wedding in New York City but, at first, he worried the invite was fake.
'We thought it was spam, like everybody else,' the 54-year-old Modern Family alum recalled to USA Today's Chiefs Wire on Wednesday.
'When we got the invitation, we were very careful. We couldn't verify with anybody. We just had to trust it was real because I wasn't breaking any rules, and Lindsay wasn't either. But it was incredible.'
Stonestreet added: 'I know they've gotten so much crap for doing it at Madison Square Garden, but show me another place where they could have a private moment like anybody else would deserve to have at a wedding, where they don't have helicopters and hot air balloons and dirigibles floating over them trying to get video.'
The two-time Emmy winner said his 'favorite moment' of the star-studded ceremony 'was just that they created a place that they could have the normalcy that they deserve.'
'And it just happened to be at Madison Square Garden with security making sure everybody was safe and good and they could just have a night for themselves,' Stonestreet told People on Wednesday.

'I really thought of it as what a gift they gave to us too. It's one thing nobody's talking about is what a gesture it was to those people that they invited and welcomed us and [provided] such an incredible night.'
The Kansas City native has known the 36-year-old Kansas City Chief tight end for 'a while' and said he's even 'great to his mother and sister.'
'We've seen Travis from when he was drafted and we've seen him through different phases of his life,' Stonestreet said.
'So when they started dating, we were so happy for him. But we were also happy for Taylor because we know what kind of human being Travis is. So we were excited to celebrate their love with them and a few other people in New York City, and it was just a treat to be there.'
The Coors Light brand ambassador admitted he only knew the 36-year-old billionaire pop star 'a little bit' after presenting her with a trophy at the American Music Awards in 2012.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Stonestreet's rep for comment, but did not immediately hear back.
When it came to his own September 9th nuptials to the 47-year-old pediatric nurse, Stonestreet 'wanted it to be a secret' since only close family members were invited.
