Australian model Ellie Gonsalves has revealed the real reason she doesn't want children, after her '117 reasons to remain child-free' list went viral in 2023.

The influencer, 36, who is married to entrepreneur Ross Scutts, opened up about her decision to not have kids on Friday during an interview on the Life Uncut Podcast.

A clip shared on Instagram showed Ellie saying people often ask her the ‘real reason’ for her child-free choices, hinting at a deeper emotional motivation.

'I was sick of people telling me their opinion about why my choice was wrong,' she said.

'I would be somewhere and people ask me the most in-depth - they're like, "Why?" you know.

'And it's not an appropriate time to have a conversation about the fact that my dad committed suicide.'

Australian model Ellie Gonsalves, 36, has revealed the real reason she doesn't want children, after her '117 reasons to remain child-free' list went viral in 2023

'I had to cut my whole family off. My partner's dad also died of cancer, and he's cut his family off,' she continued.

'Like, it's not the time and the place to get so deep into the real reasons why I don't want to personally have kids.

'Like, I found a time in my life where I've got peace and happiness and I don't intend on changing that now.'

At another point in the clip, Ellie went into the more physical aspects of childbirth that make her resistant to getting pregnant.

'I don't want to be pregnant. I don't want to give birth to a child and split my vagina to my butthole - there's a chance,' she said.

'There's a percentage of a chance and that's enough for me.'

Ellie went viral in 2023 for her list of 117 reasons to not have children, which quickly sparked a wave of backlash

'I have already received hundreds of DMs criticising me, telling me how much of a horrible and broken person I am. But lots of these fears/thoughts ARE real,' she told Mamamia at the time.

'They resonate with not only me but with so many other women. A lot of them are small things that contribute towards a much bigger picture,' she added.

She added that the messages questioning her list only furthered her resolve, as they showed some people felt threatened by others choosing an alternative lifestyle.

'They further illustrate my main point: people are sold a certain life, and when they witness others choosing a different path, the frustration lies within themselves,' she added.

Ellie married her long-term partner, entrepreneur Ross Scutts, in two luxury ceremonies back in March 2023.

The official nuptials took place at the floating beach club La Luna on the Gold Coast in an intimate toi et moi wedding.

They followed it up with a second luxury gathering where they invited their bridal party and other guests.
