The highlights of the latest preview build are undoubtedly the new cushion and bed items. Players can now craft single-use straw beds from hay bales that allow them to sleep through the night without resetting the spawn point. Another notable addition is cushions, which allow Minecraft fans to sit anywhere. Cushions, which are crafted using wool slabs and can be placed on any flat surface, come in 16 different colors.
Naturally, this Minecraft addition immediately led to the development of whoopee cushions. In this Reddit video posted by user LemonIVN, you can see how fans can now hide note blocks under redstone-powered pressure plates covered by the new cushions. Step on them, and it'll sound like a real Bronx cheer:
The classic practical joke was inevitable; less predictable are the new "tech" cushion possibilities. In the next video by PlanttDaMinecraftGuy, you can watch as the clever player pushes the cushions to act like a new form of fast travel. From the looks of it, routes require quite a bit of setup. Once they're in place, the cushions offer better travel options than things like sailing.
More chaotic players can still use cushions to get around without a specific set path, though:
You can even use cushions to make a rideable Yoshi!
Players are also utilizing cushions to come up with new decoration options, as you can see in the photos shared by RatchetGamer. Others are using the item to make new objects, like couches, chairs, stools, and multicolored flags.
"Minecarts crying in the corner as they realise even a line of cushions can be faster," one Minecraft fan wrote in a thread showcasing new cushion-powered movement options.
"Genius," another fan said of the new whoopee cushion possibilities.
