Doctor Caligari’s Cabinet of Wonders
Variety reports Talia Ryder will star alongside Michael Shannon in Doctor Caligari’s Cabinet of Wonders, a “terrifying and mind-bending” reimagining of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Like the original, the new film concerns “a traveling mesmerist who journeys from town to town with a sleepwalker under his control, leaving a trail of grisly murders in their wake. When a young woman’s boyfriend disappears mysteriously, she believes that the enigmatic Doctor Caligari is somehow responsible. The problem is—nobody believes her.”
Thud
Deadline has word Lauren Holt, Anna Akana, Kevin Bigley, Brian McElhaney, Brandon Scott, and Vincent Rodriguez III have joined the supporting cast of Thud, a “darkly comedic supernatural romance” starring Sarah Michelle Gellar as the Grim Reaper and Rudy Pankow as the Devil.
Clown in a Cornfield 2: Friendo Lives
Fangoria also reports a film adaptation of Clown in a Cornfield 2: Friendo Lives will begin filming sometime later this year. Written for the screen by Hudson Morgan and Will Lowell, the sequel follows survivor Quinn Maybrook to college “where she will learn some of America’s cruelest lessons.” However, it is currently unclear “whether or not Eli Craig will be back to direct the sequel.”
Strange Academy/Champions
According to a rumor from Daniel Richtman (via Comic Book), Marvel is now “weighing whether to turn both Champions and Strange Academy into theatrical films rather than the Disney+ series they were originally built to be.”
Avatar 4 & 5
During an interview following his receipt of the 2026 Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, James Cameron seemed to suggest he may not direct the fourth and fifth Avatar movies, after all.
There’s been momentum in the Avatar universe for 21 years at this point because we started in 2005. It’s been kind of an unbroken continuum. So this is the point where I’m looking at the landscape and asking, ‘What are the other stories I want to tell? How many of them do I need to direct myself versus writing and/or producing with other filmmakers?’
